How About an Anti-Social Network

By alan handwerger, published on Dec 16, 2009

I heard on the T.V. this morning that if Facebook were a country, it would be the sixth largest country in the world, a tidbit that sent me racing through cyberspace for data. Within milliseconds I found what I was looking for. Facebook, were it a country, would have a population somewhere between that 153,546,048 and 172,800,048, these two figures being the populations of Bangladesh and Pakistan, currently the seventh and sixth largest countries, respectively. I could flaunt my cheaply got knowledge by giving you the headcounts in China, India, the U.S., Indonesia, and Brazil; but to what... (more)

Literarily Speaking With Romance Author Dianne Castell

By boomergirl, published on Sep 28, 2009

...representation and get published. We’ve all had help getting where we are and Lori and I do the event as payback and for just plain fun.

If you could give one book promotion tip to new authors, what would that be?

Have a website that you change often and get on FaceBook and My Space and keep it current. These are cheap and they work. Keep your name out there even when you don’t have a book release. Keep in the game.

What’s next for you?

Hot Southern Nights comes out next May and then I have another series in the works. So... (more)

Called To A Higher Calling?

By baynurse, published on Jul 5, 2009

Oh dear, here comes Sarah.   Gramma Sarah Palin is all growd up now, she wont talk on CNN, but hear all about on Facebook and Twitter. Hmm if Facebook is for Faces, then Twitter must be for twits.  I am twitterpaited to hear that Mrs. Palin, has a higher calling, she could not handle Alaska's problems, her personal problems, or her family problems, she spoke like a baffoon in her vice presidential run, which she thankfully lost to an amazingly brilliant man.  Yea, like I see Sarah P. making choices about Iran, Gaza, China, coups, Pirates, health care, the economy....   Miss Palin, who cleans... (more)

Reframing The Man In The Mirror, Reflecting Ourselves

By L DeSilva-Johnson, published on Jun 27, 2009

... in his difficult times. Many of the voices now joined in celebrating and mourning this “tragic death” were implicated in bringing this man, this person, to the clearly tortured state in which we have become familiar seeing him.

As I found myself reading countless Facebook posts about how alternately “sad” and “unbelievable” this event is, I stumbled on the heart of the matter: a smattering of friends’ and acquaintances memories, all long past. Somehow, this fifty year old, little-understood person’s death represents for... (more)

Air France Flight 447: Big Zub In Bolivia!

By J.N. PAQUET, published on Jun 22, 2009

... bodies and parts of the plane in the Atlantic.

The problem is that these pictures that the Bolivian TV channel called “exclusive” are in fact taken from the american TV series LOST!

The two pictures were even actually already circulating on the social network Facebook for days! Furthermore, when we look at the pictures carefully, we can clearly see a blue sky and some white clouds at the back of the plane… while Flight 447 crashed during the night!

Did RED PAT’s journalists do their job? Did they investigate the claim that these... (more)

(more)

Right-sizing My Social Networks

By sanjanakumar, published on May 25, 2009

About a week ago I was at an event that we had held for our customers where we were discussing new technology that we will be releasing in the near future. During lunch, the topic at my table was social networking sites. One of my customers suggested that we create a group on Facebook. I then turned to him and said oh, you are on facebook? (being entrenched in technology, I am not sure why I was surprised). We mentioned something about linking to each other and then the topic turned to the fact that you need to be careful who you link to and what you post on your wall, etc. Someone... (more)
