The Not So Great American Food & Music Festival

By Ed Attanasio, published on Jun 16, 2009

...a series of painful post-mortems so we can fix all the problems so that next year the Great American Food & Music Fest does deliver on all its fundamental promises: To deliver great American food, great American chefs, and great American music in a comfortable, welcoming, and efficient environment. (Do you think people will actually give you a second chance to blow this thing yet again?)

That's my promise to serious eaters everywhere, in the Bay Area and all over the country. If you could find it in your hearts to think of this as our first pancake, that would be great. You... (more)

By ESKCSG, published on Jun 2, 2009—with hundreds of higher education members (the likes of Harvard, MIT, Duke, and Penn State). Many of these forward thinking universities, including Bryant & Stratton, have set up virtual campuses where students can meet, attend classes, and create content together. Literarily Speaking With Bestselling Author Wendy Wax

By boomergirl, published on May 28, 2009

...that selling the first book is the most difficult hurdle and that once that happens everything else just falls into place. But publishing can be a brutalbusiness, as I illustrate in THE ACCIDENTAL BESTSELLER, which is as true a depiction of what it is to be a writer in today's publishing environment as I was able to write without straying into non-fiction. (This is something the characters in THE ACCIDENTAL BESTSELLER have a bit of a problem with.)

Markets change, publishing housesmerge, editors leave--there are all kinds of things beyond a writer's control-- and many have ... (more)

In articulate and passionate voices, students told Matthews that the school offered important second chances to kids transferring from larger schools.

Parents called the sudden decision unfair to Robeson students and the East Oakland community. Sheila Clark ... (more)

...vendors selling earth friendly artistic wares. All day the Master of Ceremonies from both of the solar powered stages encouraged visitors to reuse, repurpose and recycle. This was in keeping with the festival efforts which are to become a zero waste event in order to reduce its impact on the environment and the community. All utensils, plates, napkins and cups in the Global Café were either compostable or recyclable.

Throughout the day, I strolled... (more)

The Lists Of Craig

By wolviela, published on Apr 26, 2009

...with this person for a month before meeting and I two and half years later we are happily together and just about on our way to 'happily ever after"

However this being said... I was always caution about meeting people on-line and used my best judgement. Even though it is an on-line environment, the same precautions should be taken as if you were to meet someone in a bar, club or other real life social setting. And at the same time those posting services should take the same precautions.

Craigslist should not be completely at fault what happens with it's users, but it should ... (more)

Say Hello To Algae!

By Ed Attanasio, published on Apr 19, 2009 the challenge to find alternative fuels. But it will be. Algae biofuel offers us a great deal of hope in our battle against fossil fuels.Hybrid electric automobiles typically steal most of the spotlight when it comes to the idea of ‘green’ vehicles, cars which reduce their environmental impact by consuming small amounts of gasoline or limiting the emissions produced by their operation. Gasoline / electric hybrids certainly lead this charge, but bringing up the rear are an entire host of alternative fuels which promise to provide a similar driving experience with either... (more)

The Scent Of A Human: Eau De Schwinn?

By L DeSilva-Johnson, published on Apr 16, 2009

However, trembling under those textiles is the unSPOKEn (10 point pun, don't you agree?)dialogue in this aestheticised vision of a psuedoeuropean paean to fashion a la bicyclette: that is,that bicyclingleaves one... shall we say... moist?

The ">LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards from the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) -- the official granter of "green" status to all things architecture and design -- award points to both commercial and residential with bicycle parking facilities.
