What Do You Like About Yourself ?

It's kind of strange, but for some reason people struggle with answering this more so than if you ask them what they don't like about themselves. Seems they can come up with quite a list of negatives, but the positives things are harder for them to acknowledge.

Sometimes, we spend so much time thinking about our faults, and our weaknesses that we overlook everything that is precious and beautiful about ourselves.

So, I thought I'd ask the question:

What do you like about yourself?

It may be things about your body, your... (more)

Just Stay

By Coach Phatty, published on Jul 23, 2013

... other person is a stranger. In my opinion, when an individual can demonstrate kindness and compassion to someone in need, that is a rare trait that few people seem to possess. I read the following story on which is one of my favorite stories of someone showing a wonderful level of empathy and sympathy to a fellow human being.

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside. "Your son is here," she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened.

A Prayer For All The Innocent Suffering

I left my ego behind today

sent him to another place

far from me

to no longer

fill my mind

or heart

with detrimental fabrication.

I awoke this morning

"it's too cold out"

"I want to sleep some more"

"don't want to spend the day cleaning"

The voice took hold

stared at me when

I glanced

in the mirror

saying"oh you look bad today"

"don't even think to smile "

"you have... (more)

International Day of Compassion - Care or Cure

By Barkha Dhar, published on May 15, 2011

Famous ethicist John Rawls believed that in order to promote fairness and equality, coming out of the ‘veil of ignorance’ is imperative. He idealized a society where there was no social status or labeling associated to individuals and everyone could be entitled to same social rights. Perhaps John Rawls envisioned a social model based on morality, ethicality, and virtues. His ideology seems similar to that of Dr. Patch Adams who intends to design a society based on ‘care systems’. Dr Adams philosophy of holistic care integrates cause with compassion and is a consciousness raising effort of... (more)
