Welcome Home, Welcome Back To Texas!

By Scorpion Sting, published on May 13, 2013

... back into civilian life was hard for me since I ate, drank, and shit the Air Force for so damn long. It is very hard to turn that off, even as I sit here today. It is funny for me to sit here and remember, sometimes not in the proper order, a course of events and most of them are because of my drinking. Which is this one will eventually start off because of the series of events which surrounded my return to Texas.

In fact, the very first weekend I was back I went out to a Gig (redneck performance for you yankees) where my baby sister's husband (now her ex) was performing. He has an... (more)

ADDICTION

By Rahul, published on Dec 12, 2012

I recently saw an exclusive report in a leading Malayalam news channel; the report was on tail of a suggestion made by the Kerala high court aiming at reducing liquor consumption and the news showed some videos in which few school students in their uniforms and school bags were buying alcohol from a beverage shop. After the reporter’s narration of a well written script it was time for exclusivity, like all other news channels lot of distinguished personals were introduced (both in person and on phone) and the discussion was started in hope that it will boost the channel’s Tvr, but little did... (more)

When alcohol and anxiety are a dangerous mix

By Annabelle Charbit, published on Dec 22, 2011

Top 5 Reasons Why Birthdays Are Awesome - Especially Mine!

By Felicia Stevenson, published on Oct 25, 2011

Reason #1

You get to be King/Queen for the day. Even though I will be 33 this year, my mother still makes me ANY meal of my choosing. I usually ask for home-made egg rolls or a turkey dinner. My mom's home-made egg rolls are the best damn egg rolls I've ever tasted, hands down. I'm actually starting to drool as I think of them... Moooom, I think I know what I want for dinner this year!

Reason # 2

People are nice to you and show you love all day long, every where you go. Granted, of course, that they know it's your birthday, but I've found that wearing an "it's my birthday"... (more)

I Left my Drinking Problem in LA

By taking off the mask, published on Mar 19, 2011

... blood. Twisted, would be an understatement. I took it easy on the alcohol after that and limited it to one drink, but that only lasted for a while. But I never went totally over the top after that.

In the summer I spent three weeks in LA. It was okay but I missed the late nights and the drinking, here I was underage, so that meant no bars or grocery store beers. So I knew I had to find a way. To my luck there was a kick-back (a small party) at the house I was staying. The parents were still out of town so it was just me and their son. He invited a few of his guy buddies and they drank ... (more)

Town or The Kotel?

By taking off the mask, published on Sep 7, 2010

...I chose this school because it was strict, as I know myself, if there is freedom I utilize it.

Amy* asked me to meet her in town one night, I told her I'd rather not because I didn't think it was a good idea. I heard about town before I even went to Israel. This was where all the drinking, dancing, bars and stoners went. My school was very against us going there, at least they were last year. This year, they trusted us. After arguing I finally agreed to meet her at the coffee shop across from 'crack square'. She brought one of her guy friends with her. I wasn't thrilled. I was ... (more)

I SAID NO

By taking off the mask, published on Aug 22, 2010

I FEEL STRONG

BECAUSE HE PUT THE ALCOHOL IN MY HAND

AND I DIDN'T DRINK IT

DIDN'T THINK TWICE

JUST SAID NO

I STAYED SOBER

DIDN'T GET STONED

DIDN'T SMOKE

I WATCHED AS THE PEOPLE I CALL FRIENDS

ACTED STUPID

LOST THEIR BALANCE

AND LOOKED LIKE FOOLS

BUT FOR ONCE I WASN'T INVOLVED

DIDN'T GIVE IN

AND WHEN THE AMBULANCE CAME

I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED

HOW HE HIT HIS HEAD

THANKFULLY HE'S ALIVE

AND NOT DEAD

ONE MISTAKE LEADS TO THE NEXT

THAT'S WHY LAST NIGHT I SAID... (more)

Just the Beginning (part 4)

By taking off the mask, published on Aug 3, 2010

The monster is steaming, three empty bottles by his chair, his eyes are weak, he had too much to drink. He points to the kitchen, his fat finger in the air. As I walk in, dishes are broken everywhere. I look at him from the counter he just changes the channel faster and faster. I get out the broom and begin to clean the room. “What’s taking so long? I want my food. Hurry up little girl, or I’ll lose my patience real soon.” As if he didn’t lose it already. I stop cleaning; place the broom against the wall, leaning it so it won’t fall. I turn on the stove; the gas creates a flame, at... (more)
