With Her In My Thoughts

By Uttam Gill, published on Sep 10, 2013

...but the shore has not acquired the notoriety yet, to make me retreat in haste; instead to my comfort, abiding shore gives me a warm hug .I am cultivating a relation and in the comforting sedation, I hear her voice...whisperingly she asks “are you awake.”I nod my head in affirmation..."Am I dreaming"...I ask. "No you are not" she answers...I again ask "why, you were not answering me earlier" she remains silent...And for long we did not say anything...breaking the silence she says “In the given silence, you came, and you have not uttered any word, but I heard you. You know, you just... (more)

Give Me Dreams to Live Till I Die

By Uttam Gill, published on Jul 25, 2013

“It’s what you have always wanted to accomplish.

Everyone, when they are young, knows what their Personal Legend is. At that point in their lives, everything is clear and everything is possible. They are not afraid to dream, and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen to them in their lives. But, as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them that it will be impossible for them to realize their Personal Legend…”This quote from the book Alchemist is so befittingly making my mind, to write the travails of my emotional structuring, which in recent times, to large... (more)

That’s how; we undertake our journey of life

By Uttam Gill, published on Dec 19, 2012

...our journey of life

In usual captivity of realm of our belief, we trust

We fail to see a dagger, eager to stab

All gets camouflaged with fanfare of optimism

Over the murderous assault of betray, we cry

That’s how; we undertake our journey of life

Dream defines easy terms and life takes unusual burdens

In the conjectural spectrum of life, we wonder and drift

Even the drift has it course

In the camaraderie of our drifting course, we set the sail

That’s how; we undertake our journey of life

Breath of Coals

By D. Sager, published on Nov 3, 2012

"Heroes are made in the hour of defeat. Success is, therefore, well described as a series of glorious defeats." – Mahatma Gandhi

Breath of coals consumes the compliantly relented peace of multitudes

Leaping from dream to purpose and defiling with hungered presence

- "Come my enemy, give life to me by your hate"

A leprous char to remain in the abandon of slanderous consumption

The takers of hope are meant to be, giving life to survivor's dreams

- "Come my enemy, give life to me by your violence"

Cherished visions have no meaning unless colored... (more)

The Wonders of the Automat

By Patricia Adams, published on Mar 15, 2012

My dad had a lifelong wish. He wanted to see New York City. His salary as a body and fender man in California in the Great Depression barely kept his family in food and shoes. A trip to New York City was a dream that was unlikely to happen.

By the time he was 72, and I was his caregiver, his dream had faded.

Then a miracle. My husband received a job assignment to Oneida, New York--upstate, but close enough!

The day we arrive in Oneida, my dad and my children begin planning for a summer trip to New York City. The children borrow books from the library and my dad sends for... (more)

Those who dare to dream

By Uttam Gill, published on Dec 21, 2011

...the sense to be victorious but with the extreme sense of urgency, need and desire to live intimate moments of my life. Rest is regrettable. All that has been said may not be true but surely if you look into the regrettable episodes of life the starvation there in can be felt.

To me my dreams are very important. To me all that matter which makes my heart to beat. To me sharing of space with somebody is worth living; that makes everything dance for me. All that has been denied to me and then given by them is worth experiencing. All that do not matter which hypocritically weaved and... (more)

When American Dreams Clash

By Jack Bates, published on Aug 30, 2010

The Clash!

The dream of home ownership is losing out to the dream of owning a small business. The business of buying, fixing up, and selling homes called flipping. Right now these businesses and their cash are flipping the bird to some young American families trying to claw their way back in to the Middle Class.

So what then is a solution to this dilemma? Is it a supply issue? Is it a demand issue? Is it a credit issue? Is it that the American Dream is just that, a dream, a fantasy of days gone by? I think the answer is yes. Yes to all that and more. This... (more)
