Letting My Secret Out

By LifeCherries, published on Jan 11, 2014

As you can probably all tell, I have not been blogging much lately. Not to mention that I sit down almost everyday and try to write, and nothing comes out. I just cannot write.

The fact is that I have been going through a few personal issues and because I have not been able to speak about these publicly, I have not been able to write anything. Anything I do write about just seems trivial.

We all have to make certain decisions in life which are life changing. And I have recently had to make some of these life changing decisions.

I suppose a few decisions fall into this... (more)

This Game Of Life

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 2, 2013

This world is too foreign to me

Often my heart is breaking

Not knowing how to see

Children hungry for

Love, food, kindness

I can't watch others cry and moan

Without it pulling at my heartstrings

I breathe their pain into me

Hoping to somehow

Lessen their affliction

Experience has never taught me

To walk away from those who

Need a comforting word, hug

Acknowledgment of their despondency

A simple gesture of compassion

I Refuse To Miss The Dance...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 31, 2013

-----I truly feel your life is what you choose to make it.......and also so much has to do with HOW you want to perceive the world. You can have the attitude that nothing good ever happens to you and life sucks. Or on a positive note, you can decide that you will make a life for yourself that has meaning, purpose, and joy. Over the years I have worked with such a variety of people. Many of them dealing with so much pain , not having much positive in their lives.

Many having grown up in homes where there were addictions, emotional and physical abuse, sexual abuse and... (more)

Child's Play

By melanie jean juneau, published on Apr 5, 2013

Years ago I attended a lecture which described average moral development. When a child or even some adults choose to act justly because they fear punishment, they are illustrating the most primitive level of morality. Even when a child or immature adult performs in a correct manner to receive praise or an award like a pay raise, they still are motivated simply by external forces. However when a person acts in love because they are remaining true to their core values, then they have reached the truest form of ethical action. So how do we tap into this core of goodness within us ?

Turning Negative To Positive

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jun 21, 2012

Over the years I have worked with every existence of people. The wealthy, the educated, the uneducated, the middle class, the working poor, the single parent, the homeless. In this, I have often asked myself what is the difference between those who are happy and have fulfillment within; and those who don't. I know this is no " simple " question and the answer surely could take a book or two to answer... but if I could narrow it down to one important reason and somehow simplify it... I would have to say it is how you CHOOSE to receive what life may bring you. Are you able to find... (more)

The Slow Decline of Rampant Individualism

By Notumbus Bumbus, published on Apr 18, 2012

... challenged on a near daily basis. Whether in the form of the government tracking individuals, corporations tracking buying habits, family tracking their children, hackers invading every open portal, our right to have privacy is increasingly decimated by our own individualism as exercised by our choices for communication.

Therein lies the irony, however. Pure individualism has always been a myth - no one succeeds at the game of life purely solo - there are always people helping each of us along the way. From our parents and siblings, our teachers and doctors, our laws and our... (more)

Natural Selection

By D. Sager, published on Nov 30, 2011

At anytime, there is a correction

to start over, without exception

unconfined by election

releasing inhibition

no holds barred, no friction

no need for deep inspection

release yourself to a new direction

no chains surround, nowhere to check in

one more time, an election

to start over, takes only selection

Wanderer's, All

By Notumbus Bumbus, published on Nov 21, 2011 toward new pitfalls, bumps

In the road we sometimes manage,

Sometimes don’t, but pick ourselves up, again,

Place ourselves back into the random flow.

We are wanderers, all, hopeful of the horizon,

Anxious about tomorrow, hoping the choices

We made in the past will guide us safely around

The un-seen shoals that threaten our voyage.

Asking only for the chance to make this life

Less random, more intentional, worthy

Of memory, worthy of lasting far beyond

Our own random end of days.

Using the Power of Choice to Heal and Grow

By Carolyn CJ Jones, published on Oct 29, 2011

... the Heart: A Journey of Healing" that is a compilation of inspirational verses and accompanying photographs of wrought-iron gates. Toward the end of the book, I have one picture of a gate that looks like a man with a top hat on, and his arm raised in the air in salute. I named it Celebration of Choices, as if he's celebrating the fact that he has choices in his life.

I can also celebrate the fact that I have choices, for I do, with everything I do, everything I feel. Up until about 5 years ago, though, I got angry when people said I could choose to be happy. I needed to heal from my... (more)
