Paris and Nicole: Life Partners?

By C. Reagan, published on Oct 11, 2006

Yesterday morning I woke up with a start. Sweat trickled down my back and my mouth was as dry as Kathy Griffen's standup act. Slowly, I regained my composure and grabbed a chilly glass of Southern California Brand tap water. I sat down at the small, blonde particle board computer desk and fired up the Dell. As I clicked on Firefox, it became clear to me that something was amiss. Something was not right. Something was telling me to get an early start on the day's gossip. There It was. After such a 18 months. The moment I had been waiting for. My dream came back to me, rushing forward in a... (more)

Seriously, Are you kidding?

By Erinn Selkis, published on Oct 7, 2006

...“everything,” but Im afraid that without your blessing that will be impossible. And then there is “enjoy,” yet another phrase I hate. “Here is your plate of undercooked meat, sir. Enjoy!” “This is the strongest tanning bed that the state of California allows us to fry your skin with, enjoy!” Enjoy. Enjoy. Enjoy. Ugh. As if someone telling someone else to enjoy something will actually make that happen…If it were only that easy, I would be going around all day saying “Erinn, enjoy waiting in backed up traffic; enjoy... (more)

Gov. Angelides and Other Fairy Tales

By J. La Mont, published on Sep 27, 2006

...toll and gas prices. Red states like Kansas and Wyoming have Democrats leading their gubernatorial races. Angelides being the Democratic contender in the bluest state seemed poised for victory but that time has long since passed. According to the latest poll from Public Policy Institute of California, Gov. Schwarzenegger is leading 48% to 31%. Why? Both sides ran to the left after the primaries. Arnold went after the fast growing political demographic in California, the independents, and stole Angelides thunder by raising the minimum wage, cutting greenhouse gas emissions and divesting... (more)

By Mia, published on Sep 22, 2006

...the glitter, the shows, the lights, the all-you-can-eat buffets, clubs, casinos, all 24/7, play anytime, anyday?? Yes, my friends , these are all the fun things to do........when you visit Las Vegas. I , on the other hand, packed up my family, after having been born and raised in Southern California, Mar Vista/Venice area, and decided it was time for a change. So, I pack up the family July of 2005, and head up that lovely 15 freeway, unbeknownst to me at the time, that we would all be taking that same 15 back to our hometown of Mar Vista exactly a year later. to come back to live, in our ... (more)

By Ariel, published on Sep 17, 2006

Our Governator approved a measure on Friday banning the use of cell phone while driving in California. The measure will take effect on July 1st, 2008. "The simple fact is that it is really dangerous to talk on a cell phone and drive at the same time," Schwarzenegger said. "It's very important for people to know ... stop using the cell phone right now, because you are putting people at risk." ...away your Spinach!! Bodybuilders everywhere are rushing home to their refrigerators to empty all those bags of leafy greens. It appears even the healthiest food can pose a danger to Americans these days. The latest news on this week's E. Coli outbreak is that it is being linked to a California spinach processor, Natural Selection Foods LLC. So far over 100 people have fallen sick in this fatal outbreak. Dreamgirls is all the RAGE on Santa Monica.

By C. Reagan, published on Aug 31, 2006 up a few girls (or flamboyant guys) and put on your most cliche outfits. You are on your way to RAGE's Dreamgirls Drag Show Extravaganza! Located at 7994 Santa Monica Blvd., RAGE hosts an array of female impersonators that glorify all that it is to be fabulous and queer in Southern California. These Queens aren't the ones your mama used to throw singles at. In fact, they work the stage better than most performers who don't have their private parts strapped down. (Take a lesson Britney!) I attended the show last week, when the theme was "Superheros". The doormen were polite,... (more)

Hawthorne Aviation Museum Takes Off

By Deleted User, published on Aug 19, 2006

At the intersection of Prairie St. and 120th in Hawthorne City, California, volunteers for The Western Museum of Aviation are preparing for takeoff. The museum is headed towards Torrance’s Flite Park, where countless aeronautic models and drawing planes will once again color empty walls. A few that are currently being packed into cardboard boxes include a Northrop World War II single-engine seaplane built in 1940 and a Wright GR-1820-G205 jet aircraft engine. The move comes at a time when rents are rising for the city, and in a world where non-profit organizations like The Western Museum... (more)
