Rudy Rupak, co-founder and president of Planet Hospital, a medical tourism agency with headquarters in California, said he expected to send at least 100 couples to India this year for surrogacy, up from 25 in 2007, the first year he offered the service. Lower prices in India make surrogacy affordable by middle class Americans. By some estimates Surrogacy in India is already $ 445 million business.

Long Beach-Thousands of funkateers from all over California descended upon Pine Avenue for the inaugural Long Beach Funk Festival, August 29, 2009. This was a festival of all funk and nuttin but the funk that brought together old and new funk fans to showcase where funk came from and where it’s going. Los Angeles Lakers Fans Got Game

...3on3 Basketball Tournament presented by NIKE was held on a hot weekend, August 14-16, 2009. Coca Cola, Powerade and Vitamin Water were in attendance to insure that everyone stayed hydrated. A portion of player registration fees were donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California. Parks and gyms were missing a lot of basketball players this weekend. It seems like the entire street ballers were all downtown for this event. Players came from all over Los Angeles and surrounding cities.

The 22nd Annual Long Beach Jazz Festival was held on August 7-9, 2009, at the gorgeous grassy knoll of the Rainbow Lagoon.

Al Williams, The Founder of the Long Beach Jazz Festival and his staff of Rainbow Promotions and volunteers were blessed by the weather Gods with some ultimate Southern California weather. The weather was tolerable but pleasant with a nice breeze all weekend.

... 8PM. The City of Los Angeles Presented the annual Community St. Andrews Jazz Festival, Sponsored by: Empowerment Congress and Southwest Neighborhood Council.

I heard some heavenly voices as I rounded the corner from Manchester Blvd. to St. Andrews Place to the festival site. Southern California Golden Chorale kicked off the celebration with some uplifting inspirational gospel tunes to set the tone for the afternoon.

Later those were cancelled by CSAA and AAA offered Nevada AAA policies at much higher rates. So ended my 24-year AAA home and auto coverage.
