Dog from "Air Bud" films in steroid scandal

By Shawn Norris, published on Dec 6, 2007

... and go interview those dogs from Mike Vicks house, huh? People paid 8.50 to see Rob Schneider pretend to be an animal for an hour and a half. My client is a better athlete and a better actor than Rob Schneider. So I ask you, who’s the real criminal here?” When reporters questioned Atlanta Falcon’s quarterback Mike Vick if he had ever administered performance enhancing drugs to his dogs at Bad Newz Kennels, Vick said “I don’t know, I never been dog fighting in my life. You gonna have to ask Ron Mexico about that shit.” While it is unclear whether these ... (more)

By Rose Mountain, published on Oct 31, 2007

...Now! TIM FLANNERY: Thanks very much, Amy. AMY GOODMAN: It’s great to have you with us, Tim Flannery. Well, we are talking today in dire times. The fires are raging in Southern California. A major drought has struck the Southeast, from Tennessee through the Carolinas, Georgia. Atlanta could run out of water. And then we’ve seen this drenching downpour in New Orleans. They had to close City Hall, close the schools. Is there a connection between the fire, the water and the drought? TIM FLANNERY: Yeah. Look, the best way to think about these things, really, is to take ... (more)

Tax Relief For Self-Employed Atlantans

By GreatMinds, published on Sep 28, 2007

...and with it the onset of holiday planning; for the self-employed (or any person who reports income via a Form 1099), holiday planning for 2007 should include year-end tax planning and forming strategies for 2008. One of the most truly financially dangerous myths that self-employed people in Atlanta (and everywhere else for that matter) may cling to is "my accountant takes care of my taxes." The average small-business owner overpays his or her taxes by more than $11,000.00, according to a study by the U.S. General Accounting Office. If self-employed earners lost that much money every... (more)

Google Street View now in Los Angeles

By Ariel, published on Sep 9, 2007

...quickly made public a number of pictures taken from Street View showing girls sunbathing in bikinis, men leaving strip clubs and other activities you would not necessarily want your mom/wife/grandmother to know of. Google has plans in the near future to add other U.S. cities to Street View, including Richmond, Phoenix, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Baltimore, Boston, Jacksonville, Philadelphia and Seattle. Rumor has it that by looking a little on Street View you can find a picture of El G and Gary Peterson leisurely sharing a cup of coffee in Hollywood. Can't wait to see that.

A Disturbing Week In Professional Sports

By Mark Barkawitz, published on Jul 25, 2007

...Loyalty has its price. I wonder what Anderson’s is? Football commissioner Roger Goodell, who has already shown himself to be a no-nonsense enforcer of league rules concerning personal behavior by suspending NFL players for their off-field criminal infractions, has advised Atlanta Falcons star quarterback Michael Vick to stay home from training camp while his legal problems are resolved in the courts. Vick’s offense: running a high-stakes, dog-fighting operation out of one of his houses and murdering his own dogs who were deemed less-than-qualified fighters by... (more)

San Francisco is Going Bonkers for Bonds

By Ed Attanasio, published on Jul 21, 2007

...hit the big one. The Giants slugger is only two more homers away from tying Hank Aaron's career mark of 755, perhaps the most well-known record in the world of sports. There’s a very good chance that he could break the record during a seven-game homestand starting Monday against the Atlanta Braves, Aaron's former team, and the jockeying for position to catch the home run ball at AT&T Park has already started. The games next week against the Braves and the Florida Marlins are within a few hundred seats of being sold out, leaving fans with a hankering for history little choice but ... (more)

...of law. But, a grand jury isn’t going to go to all the trouble of indicting someone -- especially someone as high profile as Michael Vick – without some sort of hard evidence. Maroon 5's Latest Album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long"

By Sheena B, published on Jul 12, 2007

...draw you in with its polished beats and powerful lyrics. The album may be a far cry from their debut, but it show that Maroon 5 found a way to change their style without swaying away from the sound that made them famous. The five-year wait was definitely worth it because every song on the album is excellent. Maroon 5 should certainly be proud of their sophomore album because it is truly an amazing effort. Check out the group as they begin their 28-city U.S. tour in September, with stops in Atlanta, Orlando, and Los Angeles. The band will be in Houston at the Toyota Center on October 26. (more)
