Lead Us Not Into Confusion

By Thom Hunter, published on May 28, 2012

...fewer questions, can we not get it together on our answers?

Be honest. God loves us all, and He wants us all to be like His son, Jesus. That means we lay down our lives and sacrifice our desires and take on His desires for us. And, in all honesty, that does not include homosexuality, adultery, pornography or any sexual perversion, no matter how it pleases us or anyone else.

Be an example. Yes, of course, I and many others, have failed at this. But . . . let the redeemed say so. If you cannot be an example of life-long righteousness, shine in redemption and model... (more)

Interview with Author Edward F. Mrkvicka Jr.

By JaimeM, published on Feb 14, 2012

...writing about finances I wrote from career experience. My Christian writing comes from the heart and my love of the truth of God’s Word.

Your most recent book is called, No Innocent Affair. Would you tell us briefly about it?

It, as one might imagine, explores the betrayal of adultery and all its ramifications in the hope that by knowing the truth of its destructive nature, one might turn from the temptation. And if the line has already been crossed, it reveals how to save our family – and ourselves.

Adultery is deadly – it harms everyone it touches. But there is ... (more)

Wait for the Whisper

By Thom Hunter, published on Dec 9, 2011

Even youths grow tired and weary,

and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint. -- Isaiah 40:30-31

The man slept. Finally. His body had pleaded; his mind had relented; his spirit was depleted and his heart had retreated, so he slept. It was restless, not restful, and the dreams were not sweet, but instead added to the eventual misery of awakening, leaving him already tired upon rising.... (more)

Gay Culture: The Mouse that Keeps on Roaring

By Thom Hunter, published on Nov 5, 2011

..."sexual brokenness" for a couple of years now, focusing on the sin nature that causes many of us to stray from what God intended for us sexually, finding ourselves lusting for same-sex encounters, or transfixed in pornographic fantasy, or lusting after a co-worker or "friend" into full-blown adultery. I've also focused on the truth that God can restore us and put us on paths to righteousness. With His help -- and way-too-often with His help only -- we can maneuver that path, ignoring the spring-loaded temptations that pop up like wildflowers in the median, preening to be plucked if you... (more)

Who Told You You Were Naked?

By Thom Hunter, published on Oct 31, 2011

One of the most discouraging aspects of battling a deeply-internalized sexual issue is that, even after you face it, fight it, and deprive it, something in that deep-internal goes right back to work to revive it. You choke it, pound it, bury it, surrender it and then, before you know it, you're back under it. You toss it out the window on your journey to freedom and about the time you peek in the rear-view mirror, it's splatting on the windshield.

I've heard of . . . and would like to shake the hand of -- some people who faced-down the addictive nature of sexual brokenness and, in that... (more)

The Bogeyman Myth of the Hateful Bigot

By Thom Hunter, published on Oct 27, 2011

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. Luke 23:34

I have been told the church was mostly silent on that day. Evidence of my ongoing struggle with homosexuality was presented, a vote was taken and I was declared unfit to be a member and removed for the destruction of my soul. I was not there that night, but instead was angry and alone in the darkening end of a long and frightening day, as they proclaimed me unworthy of them. Oh . . . my soul. And all that is within me.

I have not seen, in the... (more)
