By MUGISHO N.THEOPHILE, published on Jul 12, 2011

This day of July9, 2011 will remain written in a solid stone for South Sudanese. This is the day South Sudan proclaimed its independence from Sudan. By becoming the 54th African state, it marked this special day by a series of glorious celebrations. The very first president of South Sudan Mr Salva Kiir was sworn in front of several African and foreign political leaders, more than thirty, including neighbors of South Sudan such as the President of Sudan and the UN General Secretary, Mr Ban Ki-moon .

The celebrations were taking place in a region that is considered as being in tones of... (more)

By MUGISHO N.THEOPHILE, published on Apr 10, 2010

After a long period of the war that lasted almost 24 years, for the first time, finally tomorrow the Sudanese are Sudan electing the new president and the parliamentarians. These historic elections are a step ahead toward unity and democracy if these elections are held in peace and with credibility. This will only succeed if the members of the Sudanese government together with the organizers of the elections are truly committed to bring peace in the country. However, this also requires that the opposition and the different political parties that are in the country take part to this great event;... (more)

Meanwhile In Darfur, U.N. To Send Troops To Sudan

By Jen, published on Aug 1, 2007

Amid reports of Lindsay dodging cops, Paris losing millions, and Britney finalizing her divorce, the war torn region of Darfur, in Sudan, was granted a faint ray of hope Tuesday. This ray comes in the form of a U.N. resolution number 1769. Invoking Chapter 7 of the U.N. charter the U.N. Security Council authorized on Tuesday the use of a peacekeeping force of 26,000 troops and police, largely drawn from African nations, in order to address the humanitarian crisis in the region. In a compromise with the Sudanese government, which has until now refused to allow U.N. troops, the peacekeeping... (more)

War and Friendship

...secret place under the city.

To the dim light of our candles, Salwa told me everything she'd seen and heard outside the Jewish Quarter. She begged me to leave the city. ‘They kill you all when British leave. New people come here every day with guns. They come from Iraq and Syria, even Sudan. They shout itbachu al yahod, slay the Jews. Please don’t stay,' she cried, tears rolling down her cheeks. I hugged her and pulled her close. I promised that soon we'd play outside together again. My words have calmed her, and with her head on my shoulder, we sat quietly, listening to the... (more)

Live To Inspire

By Barkha Dhar, published on Jan 29, 2011

...“at first, I felt ashamed about what had happened to me. But I passed through that. All I want now is to finish my education and become a lawyer." Today Nujood attends a private school in Sanaa, Yemen and aspires to board her dreams.

She lived in a village near the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. She was abducted and sold into slavery when she was just 12. Her life was bondage to physical & sexual abuse. At 18, she was sold and sent to London for life of servitude and drudgery. After years of affliction and agony, Mende Nazer finally managed to escape from the grind. Her fight for... (more)

All Enemies, Foreign And Domestic

By Paul Wylie, published on Apr 8, 2011

...change course or resign. Vote them out, recall them, do everything short of violence to remove them from office. Doing nothing is no longer an option. Appeasement and concession are no longer options. Ignore them and they will not go away. Your way of life is under attack from within. The peril to democracy lies not in Egypt, not in Libya or the Sudan. The cliff that democracy is being pushed over is right here at home and being done by the most despicable, cruel, heartless charlatns to ever grace the world stage.

Do nothing at your own peril..............................

...maybe, just maybe, if those starving homeless people on this Planet had what we have they'd be just like us. Greedy, selfish Planet consumers...sucking the life out of the World we inhabit, with only a passing interest in how our behavior is affecting others. Maybe if the starving child in the Sudan or the guy living in a box downtown reversed positions with us they wouldn't do any better than we do.

Sure religion has tried to explain this...let's look specifically at the Christian viewpoint...an ' apple ', are you freakin' kidding me? Cain murdered his own brother and all he got... (more)

A Spectre is Haunting Europe

By Anastasia , published on Sep 22, 2011

...while condoning the actions of its enemies, particularly the terrorist anti-Semites of Hamas. In a period of forty years some 30% of the resolutions condemning specific states have been directed against Israel. How much has been directed, I wonder, against North Korea, against Zimbabwe, against Sudan and against Syria?

I rather suspect that we have an illustration here of Moynihan’s Law at its most refined. If you are not familiar with the concept it was defined by Daniel Patrick Moynihan, the former US ambassador to the United Nations, best placed to observe the process from the... (more)

Why Do Europeans Hate Israel So Much?

By ranfuchs, published on Feb 12, 2010

...and genocide. That is, Israel has been responsible for 0.07% of all such killings. Not so bad considering that the country has been in a war the entire period. Let’s compare it to other countries:

In China 40 million were killed under Mao In Russia 20 million were killed under Stalin Sudan conflict has consumed 225,000 lives Somalia 400,000 Romania 150,000 Cambodia 225,000 Algeria 100,000 (fundamentalist Moslem insurrection only, not including the Algerian war) Kurdistan 300,000 Liberia 150,000 Angola 550,000 Philippines 50,000

Not that these numbers justify the... (more)
