... dated or been involved with someone whom we thought was just the cream of the crop. Perhaps even out of our league only to find at some point they agreed and moved on leaving one to the ever so warming comfort of rejection. You know the feeling...all of us do. At one point in my life while reminiscing and somewhat feeling that ache creep back in I happen to come across this quote that had me laughing my way to tears: "No matter how good looking he is, remember, some girl is tired of putting up with his shit." Instantly, I remembered. Instantly, I felt better. Even more so? I laughed... (more)

Simplicity Revisited

By Lumiere, published on Jul 17, 2009

... a lilly pad, I climbed up on the float and coasted along the lake and stared up at the sky filled with cotton candy clouds. New York City was a far away blur and all my worries seemed to disappear in the sunshine and peacefulness of it all. I laid there with the cool breeze swirling around me,reminiscing about how much the area reminded me of my childhood, and my grandfather's ranch.I laughed as I made an animal out of the clouds, I thought aboutthe time my grandmother left the dryer door open in the laundry room, only to be suprised bythe family of opossums that moved in. She screamed so... (more)

How About an Anti-Social Network

By alan handwerger, published on Dec 16, 2009

...and occasionally make contact.”

*****

There’s nothing new under the sun, I decided, as I abandoned this foolish exercise. Yet I was left with a certain frustration, a feeling of incompleteness …

Dear Dexter,

Alan Handwerger here. Long time. Just wanted you to know that I heard from Debbie Hindenberg the other day. Perhaps you’ll remember her. Well, we got to reminiscing, and if she didn’t bring your name up twenty times, she didn’t bring it up once. Anyway, if you’d like to get in touch, her e-mail is …

Hey; no one’s perfect.

The Halladay Gift That Will Keep On Giving

By Eric Karlan, published on Dec 17, 2009

...have romanticized Lee - their brilliant beacon shining on a team that experienced dark times against baseball's evil empire.

Now, Lee is gone to Seattle, and Philadelphia is left only with heartwarming memories, untarnished by the blemish of a loss or blown game.

While I enjoy reminiscing about the finer moments in Philly sports history as much as the next guy in this city, I find myself imagining some hypothetical scenarios...

If the Phillies had not miraculously rallied for three runs in the top of the 9th inning in Game 4 of the NLDS, and Colorado had rode newfound... (more)

Do You Want Your Face On Sunset Blvd?

By Ariel, published on Jan 24, 2008

... summeronsunset.com?

The idea came at the end of last summer. I was missing LA desperately-cruising Sunset Blvd., shopping on Melrose Ave., people watching at Hollywood & Highland, Venice beach on Sunday afternoons…You get the idea.

I was reminiscing with my husband and told him that I wished I could spend the summer in LA. I was hoping that he’d offer some vacation funds and agree to keep our son for a couple of weeks, but instead, in his usual sarcastic tone, he suggested that I get a billboard on Sunset Blvd. of myself... (more)

Maroon 5's Latest Album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long"

By Sheena B, published on Jul 12, 2007

...Wonder" brings out the electronic beats that a person can easily groove to, while "Goodnight, Goodnight," and "Back At Your Door," carries out the ballad side by providing poignant memories of a special loved one. The sensual "Kiwi" and the whirling sounds of "Can't Stop" are songs that are reminiscing of singles you would hear from Prince and Michael Jackson. My personal favorite is "Little of Your Time," which provides a rock beat with a pop twist. With the guitar riffs going throughout the song, you cannot deny that this song is dance worthy. Although the beats are addictive, the lyrics ... (more)

He Played With the Best in Baseball: Nino Bongiovanni, 96

By Ed Attanasio, published on Jul 15, 2007

...December 21, 1911 in New Orleans, Louisiana and played from 1938 to 1939 for the Cincinnati Reds. Bongiovanni made an appearance in the 1939 World Series against the New York Yankees. When I interviewed Nino recently, he was in poor health, but I could tell from his demeanor that he enjoyed reminiscing with me about his memories of playing in The Show. The sandlot days: “We didn’t have any little leagues like they have now. To make our own diamonds, we used to cut the weeds, and make baselines, and that was our ballpark. And the rest of the infield and the entire outfield was ... (more)

Hell Has A Place Reserved In It

By Kerry, published on Dec 29, 2007

...It was not cool to take ego trips in religion, philosophy, social interaction or quantum physics. This belief was because Marin's Buddhism flatly denied the existence of the ego as taught in an apartment in Mill Valley. Reading Alan Watts and books with esoteric titles was ok. So was reminiscing, while high, on the fantasies of H. P. Blavatsky, Talbot Mundy, James Hilton and Lobsang Rampa. Reading The Hobbit and the trilogy of the Ring was very cool. So was Doug Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe and Robert A. Heinlein's Stranger in A Strange Land. "Don't panic" and "grok"... (more)
