Court officials were skeptical at first when on Monday a potential juror submitted a name change form with "Jesus Christ" on it. But the 59-year-old Birmingham woman, who previously went by Dorothy Lola Killingworth, assured the presiding judge that was her name."It raised eyebrows, so I asked her if that were truly her name," Circuit Court Judge Scott Vowell said. "She assured me that it was. She had her name changed in the Probate Court, and she presented her driver's license." Christ was sent to Judge Clyde Jones's courtroom for a criminal case. She was excused because she was disruptive,... (more)

I Met Jesus In A Trailer Park
...and get comments and reviews immediately on your work. I am new at this and wrote my first articles to get comments from many a jokester complaining about my skills and lack of ability in my writing, calling me everything from a harmless simpleton to a maniacal monster to even asking if I was Jesus. I was about to respond to the last comment by saying that I am not Jesus but I could fetch him from the back where he is mowing the lawn. I used prudence and did not make any comments, for fear of being seen as racist or prejudiced.
The next day, as I was sweeping the driveway, a young ... (more)

Jesus Camp the Movie “What Bible Are They Reading?"
...rewarded with love. I am sharing this with you because I believe God is love and both are tangible to me. This is what I choice to believe not because I am scared of the wrath of God but because I would not want to live in a world where love was intangible. It is because of love that I know Jesus and proudly call myself a Christian. It is also because of love, that my heart was filled with pain upon learning about Pastor Becky Fischer's camp for children that is featured in the movie Jesus Camp. I do not understand why Evangelical Christians choice to teach grown adults much less... (more)
On "Phoney Theology"
...there is an anecdote from James Madison's 'Detached Memoranda' which should prove enlightening to those who wish to lord their own theology over others:
' an experiment was made on the reverence entertained for the name & sanctity of the Saviour, by proposing to insert the words "Jesus Christ" after the words "our lord" in the preamble, the object of which, would have been, to imply a restriction of the liberty defined in the Bill, to those professing his religion only. The amendment was discussed, and rejected... The opponents of the amendment having turned the feeling... (more)

...meetings, reading spiritual books, going on a pilgrimage, having family prayer. A great spiritual devotional book that I recommend is God Calling by two listeners under, publisher, A.J. Russel. The point is to continue to feed your personhood with information and knowledge about God/and or Jesus so that you can apply the knowledge to your life. When you are weak, the devil will try to tempt you. Any prayer, such as "Jesus help" said aloud again and again will make the devil back off. Prayers are armor and freedom from the devil’s pestering temptation. Just remember, all evil flees in ... (more)

And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” -- Matthew 22:36-40
Christians do few things worse than share the love of Christ and the reality of healing and forgiveness with the sexually-disses among us. That would be the disoriented, the disappointed, the disturbed and the roundly discussed and often... (more)

If You Build It, They Will Come
...arrived.
Then one day, to get some space from his sister Irene's relentless prayer and talk of the Lord, he retreated to his car. In there, he found himself repeating The Sinner's Prayer, over and over and over. He was pulled into it inexorably, seemingly by a force outside himself. "Jesus, I'm a sinner. Please come onto my body and into my heart."
And then it came: the revelation. Leonard Knight had been transformed by the renewing of his mind. He asked, and it was given unto him.

What Should We Do About Doubt?
...this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. -- I Peter 1:6-7
