Pregnancy bias is in the news right now. Apparently it's on the rise according to an article on msnbc (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18742634/) . I was never discriminated against based on my pregnancy--but was there bias? My story is probably very similar to others. I was an account executive for a marketing/advertising agency when I got pregnant with my first child. I loved my job, loved the whole creative atmosphere and wanted to continue working. I stayed home for six weeks (which is pathetic compared to countries like Sweden where 18 month paid leave is the norm) and then went back to work.... (more)
I have a chart on the mirror in my bathroom to motivate me to exercise. The chart is a list of reasons to exercise. Sometimes it works and I go out running or walking and sometimes I try to avoid eye to paper contact. Iâ€™m actually fortunate. Iâ€™m lean even if I donâ€™t exercise. Notice I said â€œleanâ€ and I didnâ€™t say â€œhealthyâ€. Because Iâ€™m not overweight, I can convince myself that I donâ€™t need to exercise, well, unless I focus on the backside jiggling. I just finished watching, one of the funniest episodes of The New Adventures of Old Christine. My husband and I laughed the entire half hour. What amazes me is that there are rumors going around that it might be canceled. The New Adventures of Old Christine is one of the few female-led comedies on television right now, and CBS is rumored to be pulling the plug. Last nightâ€™s episode had Christine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) worried she was pregnant.
