Los Angeles- I'm sure that you have probably noticed that the start of the Holiday season is upon us. This is a season of the year that sparkles with the sights, sounds and contagious smiles. For 21 years the Veterans' Holiday Celebration organizers, led by Berry Gershenson, ushered in the season for thousands of veterans and active duty military and their families. This wonderful celebration was held on Sunday, December 8, 2013, on the grounds of the Veterans Administration.

Los Angeles-Councilmember Bernard C. Parks, 8th District presented the annual Winter Wonderland and Toy Giveaway, Saturday, December 14th, 2013. This event was held from 10:00AM-1:00PM. This popular event was held at the Sears Auto Center Lower Level Parking. The location was transformed into a magical Winter Wonderland on a bright, beautiful, sunny Southern California Day.

Hawthorne's Mayor Elect Chris Brown Swearing-in Ceremony

Hawthorne-History was made in the City of Hawthorne last month. Citizens elected it's first African American Mayor. Mayor Elect Chris Brown (at age 32) is also the youngest mayor ever elected in the City of Hawthorne.

Thursday, December 5th, Hawthorne Mayor Elect Chris Brown held a public, honorary swearing in ceremony, at the Hawthorne Memorial Center, 3910 West El Segundo Blvd.

Los Angeles-Bakewell Media presented the 8th Annual Taste of Soul, Saturday, October 19, 2013. The festival returned to historic Leimert Park Village on “The Shaw” as Crenshaw Boulevard is affectionately named.

Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls, don’t let the calendar fool you. The outdoor festival season continues in high gear with our summer like weather two weeks into the Autumn/Fall season.

Inglewood-The City of Inglewood celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Main Library on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM at the Main Library, 101 West Manchester Blvd., Inglewood, CA. 90301. The all day program was free to the public.

Inglewood-A quick search on Google for 1st Friday Food Truck, 4th Friday Food Trucks or Food Trucks, one will find a plethora of events with food trucks around town at various venues for different functions. Some events are held for school fundraisers, part of Art Walks, while other events feature food trucks in conjunction with major events.

The Joint is Jumpin’ in Lawndale

Lawndale- The inaugural Lawndale Jazz and Blues Music Festival was held on September 14, 2013 from 1pm-7pm. Sponsored by the City of Lawndale and Guitar Center Southbay. The event was held outdoors at Lawndale Civic Center Plaza, 147th Street and Burin Ave.

It was a pleasant day, around 75 degrees with a nice breeze. This festival is a welcome addition to the festival circuit in the Southbay with the demise of the Long Beach Blues Festival. This festival has the potential to grow and be held at a large venue with people willing to pay to attend.

Santa Monica- Sete de Setembro (September 7) is a national holiday in Brazil on September 7 every year. The date celebrates Brazil’s Declaration of Independence from Portugal on September 7, 1822.

This is a cause for celebration. Lights! Camera! Action! And Party!!! The organizers of the 6th Annual Los Annual Brazilian Film Festival celebrated this occasion with a Launch Party in the Courtyard/Pool Area at the Shangri-LA Hotel-1301 Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica.
