Chillin’ at the Bayou Festival

Long Beach-The arrival of the Summer Solstice is greeted with plenty of fanfare. Case in point, the official start of Summer fell on the same day as the Long Beach Bayou Festival. The festival was held on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 2014.

Former residents of Louisiana could attest to the fact that any event is a cause for celebration. Thousands gathered on the grassy knoll of the Rainbow Lagoon for the annual Long Beach Bayou Festival. Several of the musicians commented on our beautiful, Southern California weather.

Playboy Jazz Festival-The Tradition Continues

Hollywood-The Playboy Jazz Festival returned to the iconic Hollywood Bowl, June 14-15, 2014 for its 36th edition. For 35 years, the festival sailed under the Playboy banner. The 36th edition is under new management, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, who promised and delivered a well attended and well received festival.

Long Beach Bayou Festival Returns to Rainbow Lagoon

Los Angeles-Residents of the greater Los Angeles area are fortunate to have so many options to enjoy for Memorial Day Weekend. I joined a community of creative people and visitors for St. Elmo’s Village 45th Anniversary Celebration with the theme “Celebrating the Art of Creative Survival.”

Prescencia Cubana Returns to Echo Park

Los Angeles-A huge, enthusiastic crowd welcomed the return of Prescencia Cubana to Echo Park on Sunday, May 18, 2014. This fantastic festival celebrated the cultural heritage of the Cuban community living throughout the greater Los Angeles area. The festival featured live performances, arts and crafts, Cuban food and coffee, and activities for children. The event also commemorates the island’s freedom from Spain on May 20, 1902.
