French Quarter Festival-Taking it to the Streets
New Orleans- Spring is upon us. Locals can see the rainbow through the gray clouds. Yes, as they say, April showers brings May flowers. There were lots of showers in the region for the 32nd Annual French Quarter Festival presented by Chevron.
The rain didn’t dampen the spirit or enthusiasm of the estimated 386,000 festival goers in attendance to enjoy the music, food, special events and historic French Quarter. Unfortunately, inclement weather impacted attendance, which hit a record 733,000 festival goers last year.

Sunday, February 8th, the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), held its annual Afro Latino Festival. This popular annual event, celebrates African heritage in the diaspora, with an emphasis on Latin America. The celebration was part of Target Free Sundays at MOLAA.

OneLife LA Celebrated All Human Life in Southern California
Los Angeles- A huge event was held in Grand Park on Saturday, January 17, 2015. I happened upon this wonderful, life affirming event while enroute to The Music Center for another event.
The Grand Park event was the inaugural OneLife LA, the first large-scale event that celebrated all human life in Southern California.
The event was well underway, when I arrived at the park, which featured a stage set-up on Spring Street, on the west side of Los Angeles City Hall.

The Latin Side of Jazz Educators Network Conference
San Diego- the 6th Annual Jazz Educators Network Conference ventured west, January 7-10, 2015. This is an annual showcase of all things jazz, which was held at the beautiful Manchester Grand Hyatt, in pleasant, sunny San Diego. I overheard several conversations from the east coast crowd who welcomed the respite from the freezing temperatures back home.
