Babe's and Ricky's Inn

Santa Monica - It is not too often that you get to see a great movie with the blues as its soundtrack. To top it off, movie goers were treated to a live performance of the blues at the conclusion of the movie.

I'm referring to the movie Babe's and Ricky's Inn, directed by Ramin Niami. This movie was the Centerpiece during the 21st Annual Pan African Film and Arts Festival, where the film won the Festival Programming Award. I missed the showing of the movie and the blues jam that followed during its showing at the Pan African Film and Arts Festival... (more)

By Ricky Ricardo, published on Feb 8, 2013

New Orleans - I returned to New Orleans, Sunday, January 27 through Thursday, January 31,2013 for the umpteenth time to partake in Carnival season and Super Bowl Week activities. The locals affectionally referred to as "Super Gras". This short trip to the Crescent City, aka N'Awlins was filled with many memorable events. The theme of my visit was Family, Friends, Food and Football.

I arrived in town on January 27, a Sunday afternoon. I was fortunate to view the middle of the King Arthur parade on Canal Street at Baronne. This was a lot of fun. There was marching bands, about... (more)

New Orleans - The weather Gods looked downed favorably upon New Orleans just in time for the Vince Lombardi Trophy Ceremony. Super Bowl Media Day in New Orleans

New Orleans - The most anticipated and or dreaded event (depending on who you talk to) has come and gone. I'm speaking about the Super Bowl Media Day Fueled by Gatorade. Five thousand journalists (legitimate and otherwise) from all over the world were given the chance to interview members of both the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens before a live audience, prior to Super Bowl 47, at the Mercedes Benz Super Dome. Some of the questions had nothing to do with the matter at hand, while other questions were well thought out. The coaches... (more)
