Not So Fashionable- Celebrity Drunk Driving

By Lumiere, published on Aug 7, 2008

First it was Nicole Ritchie arrested while driving under the influence of alcohol, then Paris Hilton, Mel Gibson shortly followed the DWI suit and now it is adorable actor, Shia LeBeouf. I have a hard time understanding the concept of anyone getting behind the wheel who has been drinking, much less a celebrity. The irony of celebrity drinking and driving is it's not like they do not have the money to hire a driver for a night out on the town, or to take a cab home after partying all night with their friends, hell they even have the means to rent a hotel room if necessary. However, instead... (more)

One Cent, One Community

By Lumiere, published on Aug 4, 2008

Many years ago, I was once told by a famous psychic that I should not watch the news, he explained thatthe dark contenthas a negative effect on my heart chakra and closes it down. So eventually I gave up televisionaltogetherto simplify my life and switched to reading newspapers, whichappear to bemore fear based than ever. I often wonder if it is even possible to get a dose of happy news anywhere on the planet at this point in time. Just in the last few days; the Washington Post reported on Friday that U.S. federal agents have been given new powers to seize travelers' laptops and other electronic... (more)

New Global War Demanded By Us Attorney General

By Lumiere, published on Jul 24, 2008

Bush’s Attorney General, Michael Mukasey, called on Congress to take dramatic steps to alter the Constitution. Mukasey is forcefully requesting Congress to issue a new declaration of war that will make the entire globe, including the United States itself a literal "battlefield." The purpose of this new declaration of war is so the United States can declare war on any 'terrorist' territory that has oil; which grants a type of Congressional permission to attack, kill and steal the oil from any country it chooses and would also grant immunity for war crimes. The President... (more)

By Lumiere, published on Jul 21, 2008

A long, long time ago, when American cheese was invented the name was used to distinguish it fromEuropean cheeses. American cheese artisianstook great pride in challenging themselves to make the best products. The original American cheese was made with amixture of real blended cheeses,Colby and Cheddar, and was sold in blocks in delis and supermarkets. Itwas preferred over regular cheddar cheese because it had a milder flavor, melted smoothlywhen heated unlike cheddarandwas great on cheeseburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches and for use in dips.

Biofuel, Is It Worth Human Life?

By Lumiere, published on Jul 16, 2008

If the President you trust, your elected official handed you a silver spoon with chocolate in it, but you found out later it was actually pudding mixed with feces. What would you do? Politics are messy and so are the lies often fed to us by our officials to justifycertain legislative policies regardingprice gouging of; mortgages, real estate, gas, oil and even food. Food, water and air, something all humans cannot live without. The question is, does any world government, financial institution or corporation have the right to monopolize or privatize these three things essential to our survival... (more)

When Racist Agendas Pollute Politics

By Lumiere, published on Jul 10, 2008

Growing up in a Southern Baptist church, there were alot of Sundays when the preacherat our church gave sermons on hisfavorite subjects of choice; sin, fire-and- brimstone, more sin, with a particular focus on Revelation and the Biblical passageswhich includedthe mark of the beast andhumans being forcedto physically wear the'computer chip' on their bodies. All of these thingswereto be interpreted by believers as signs of the end of the world which was a very jagged pill to swallow at a young age.

Ironically, when President George W. Bush, a southern born, self proclaimed Christianpassed... (more)

Celebrity Tabloids Murder The Newspaper

By Lumiere, published on Jul 8, 2008

While standing in line at the supermarket, one cannot help but notice the rows and rows of tabloids and celebrity photographs staring back at you. If you want to buy the New York Times, or any real, credible newspaper, you actually have to go out of your way to find it. When the tabloid monopoly fills the grocery store isles due to demand, out selling quality newspapers, it causes me to stop and analyze our priorities as a society. The public demand for tabloid news proves that regardless of the size ofa city or town,or the people in it, gossip is like a deadly virus without a cure. Unfortunately,... (more)

The Top 10 Worst Pick Up Lines

By Lumiere, published on Jul 1, 2008

Pick up lines, all of us have heard them at one time or another. Sometimes they cause us to laugh, to smile or to roll our eyes ever so politely, or not. A good pick up line can make a person feel desirable no matter their age but if bad, absolutely disgusted. We can either be left feeling elated by a pick up line or left feeling like a used car salesmen just slimed our aura. Pick up lines are twisted charm in disguise used as a method of seduction, for better or for worse. What ever happened to the direct approach, like buying someone a drink, or sending a bottle of wine to a table, to later... (more)

Surviving Betrayal

By Lumiere, published on Jun 26, 2008

The human heart can survive many things but whensomeone we love and trust betrays us, it can painfully shake the very foundation of our faith in humanity. Sometimes it can cause us to loose our sense of self, we may spiral into a deep depression or even become withdrawn from others andpossibly suicidal. Working as a life coach, I am often amazedat the stories I am told ofhow careless people can be with their relationships and another persons heart.

GabrielandDean had been friends since childhood, for eighteen years they attended the same schools, were in many of the same classes, graduated... (more)

Fred Flinstone Vitamins Illegal?

By Lumiere, published on Jun 24, 2008

January of 2010 when you go to your favorite hamburger joint, go ahead and place an order. Ten minutes later, a plate will arrive with a giant angus hamburger on a toasted bun with cheese, lettuce, tomato with a side order of piping hot fries. Nothing will seem or taste out of the ordinary. On the way home, make a pit stop at your local grocery store; the produce, poultry, dairy and vitamins will all look the same. However, unless these foods are locally grown or manufactured in the United States the foods you consume will be void of all vitamins and nutrients due to CODEX Alimentarius, also... (more)
