Where Did All The Jobs Go?

By Lumiere, published on Aug 30, 2009

Take a road trip through America and like me, you might wonder when the weeds of poverty began to rapidly take root in the beloved and once prosperous communities, towns and cities of the United States. When our country does well economically, 155.1 million people are employed at any given time.  Unfortunately, the lives and homes of every day people, have been drastically altered by our 9.7% unemployment rate. Over a million people are currently unemployed. On the news we are only given statistics and data in order to distance ourselves from the truth. When the weight of reality... (more)

By Lumiere, published on Jul 17, 2009

My favorite kind of friend is the one who knows you so well that just by hearing your voice on the phone or seeing your face, they know exactly what kind of mood your in and just what you need. It is as if as the years pass, we develop a type of telepathic ear tooneanothers empathy and nurturing needs. Well I needed a break from NYC, some peace and quite, somy girlfriend decided toinvited me along to a cabin on the lake in the middle of nowhere, five hours north of Chicago.Fresh air. Wide open spaces. Beautiful lake views. Trees. Chirping Birds not drowned out by honking automobiles. Looking... (more)

Choosing To Love In Spite Of Heartache

By Lumiere, published on May 15, 2009

Miguel had a chiseled body like a fine Greek art sculpture, with piercing aqua blue eyes he immediately captured your attention. Sadly, his beauty was hiding a secret, his heart was broken over a recent relationship break up. He had been romantically involved with a Latin celebrity, not 'out' to the public for three, almost four years. His break up was turning into a bad nightmare because every where he went there were reminders of his ex; on the radio, television, newspaper and even magazines. Miguel had been referred to me for coaching by mutual friends of ours, because they felt he needed... (more)

The Earth : Global Time Share For Sale

By Lumiere, published on Apr 23, 2009

"Can we really *own* a piece of the earth when no one in our family will live forever?"

~Billy, age 6 on asking his parents real estate agent about buying a new home.

I find it amazing how the wisdom of a small child can point out to us adults that the earth belongs to no one person, but everyone. The earth is in fact a time share; individually we possess the right to use the property, and each sharer is allotted a period of time (typically a lifetime) in which they may use the earth. Timeshares may be on a "to use" basis, but in this case every individual must do their part to... (more)

LL: "Oh, I heard about that, preperation for the American Concentration Camps. Yeah, my minister went there for training a few months ago under Executive Order 13397."

N: " What is Executive Order 13397? I think I heard something about it..."

Haunted By The Past

By Lumiere, published on Feb 27, 2009

When someone from the past pops up out of the blue unexpectedly and surprises me, I find it rather fascinating because the universe always works in mysterious ways. There must be something in the cosmic water pool lately, because an old friend who betrayed me five years ago, sent me an email recently apologizing for the way things ended our fifteen year friendship. In retrospect, it seemed like such a long time ago that the fabric of our friendship was torn when he was caught having an affair on his partner, also one of my closest friends. The situation was so messy, I was forced into... (more)

The same week theUnited Statesmade history, when millions of people turned out in mass numbers to flip the Republicanswitch to Democratic and elect Obama, it seemed for a moment as though our country took ten steps forward for equality. Yet at the same timethe United Statestook three steps back as theGLBT communitylost the marriage ballot and adoption rights in California, Florida and Arizona.
