Should Enforced Laws Be Waived For Different Minorities?

By Lakwyia, published on Jul 25, 2009

I do not have a problem with the law enforcement and how procedures are followed especially when it comes to checkpoint sites, but this particular night really made me change my mind just a little bit. One late Saturday night on July 18, 2009, there was a checkpoint site somewhere in South Carolina(between the North Carolina and South Carolina border) and it was directly in front of the store where my friend is currently employed. She did not really pay too much attention to the chaos outside until a young woman came in asking to use the telephone because it was an emergency.

The Real Talk Behind Foodstamps

By Lakwyia, published on Jun 25, 2009

Okay, now I have heard it all when it comes to foodstamps and how people abuse the system to get them. But for this young lady in another state who thinks abusing foodstamps means you cannot go to the store to buy quality foods, well I do not think that is what abuse means. This so called person, (well we will call her Nancy for now) goes into a store one morning on her way to work to get her something for lunch. A young man in front of her had four or five steaks worth at least $75. The cashier asked whether he had debit or credit and the young man stated he had EBT which is a card used... (more)

What's Good For The

By Lakwyia, published on Jul 3, 2008

I know we are living in a different century with different generations and changes but does the world still value their morals seriously? For instance, a long time ago when a woman became pregnant out of wedlock, people would look at her differently. Sometimes bad names were called as well as other unreasonable situations. But let's put a man in a woman's place. A man could get a woman pregnant out of wedlock ,have multiple children with women or have multiple women itself. Does he get any form of malice or recognition? No, not in a million lifetimes. Right now let's look at Brad Pitt. Yes,... (more)

Famous celebrities: Are they being targets from their past?

By Lakwyia, published on Sep 22, 2007

Most of the famous stars or celebrities today have their wild pasts, gone to jail and then they come out usually a better or the same person as before. But when you see others who have done pretty much the same or somewhat possibly worse, then it becomes a problem within the law so far as famous people wanting to live their lives without being targeted for every little thing they do. Now let's just get it all out in the open with this O.J. Simpson case. Why would they want to give this man all these years in prison just for having a gun(not counting the other charges yet)? Yes, i do feel personally... (more)

How old is too old to be a young actor?

By Lakwyia, published on Sep 10, 2007

There isn't anything wrong with being a young actor if you're of young age or if the looks can get you by for a bit but let's admit it. Most of the family shows has gone too far with actors who portray themselves as high school age teens when actually considered as full grown adults. For instance, the actress Raven Symone and half of her cast(That's so Raven). Isn't she about 21 years old or pretty much close to it? Remember the old show "Beverly Hills 90210?" All those kids were older than originally thought. At least that show went all the way out during the college years and so on until it... (more)

Should Michael Vick be Michael Sick-O what?

By Lakwyia, published on Aug 20, 2007

The majority of people who has pets or other animal beings in the household usually are considered as another part of the family. But in Michael Vick's case, he doesn't take to pets lightly at all as a part of his family especially dogs. Some don't think Vick is a total murderer but the courts may feel different if he's guilty of animal brutality. I am against dogfighting rings, of course, on top of having vicious dogs as pets but animals should not be brutally murdered for any means necessary. Michael Vick should suffer the consequences like others who wants to sponsor dogfighting rings at their... (more)

This is no breeze, it's a hundred degrees!

By Lakwyia, published on Aug 3, 2007

How many more reruns are we going to have in the news about leaving children in the hot car while going inside public places? C'mon, everyone in the world has heard the usual lines: "I forgot my child was in the car or I did not have a babysitter for the kids so i am going to leave them in the car for hours while i work." Remember, there was a gentleman who got off free because he did not know his child was in the backseat of the car while he worked a 12 hour shift. But the same scenario, a different person about two weeks later had the same story the gentleman had who never went to prison ends... (more)

Is going to jail a fashion statement for celebrities?

By Lakwyia, published on Jun 3, 2007

Every now and then we may see a celebrity on television who has gotten into trouble and it always comes to mind if they are getting just what they deserve if the alternatives lead to jail time. For instance, what about Paris Hilton? Even though she will be going to jail soon, it seems to be not a big deal. Personally she is taking this pretty well as if she is going off on a vacation to the islands or something. What are these celebrities thinking? Do they believe that going to jail is a fashion statement for them? It shouldn't be. Celebrities should be treated like the regular people in this... (more)

Was Prince Harry fit for war?

By Lakwyia, published on May 30, 2007

Sometimes you may hear people refer to others differently as being "college material" or "marriage material" but when you talk about Prince Harry, I am wondering maybe as well as others, was he "military material"? Personally, i do not think he is. C'mon, he's royalty for god's sake and that is all he knows. Military is not for everyone and thank god, whether Prince Harry knows it or not, his life was saved. If he would have stayed in the military long-term, he would have been dead. The same feelings also to the former NFL star Pat Tillman. He wasn't "military material" either. I am glad that... (more)

Daytime talk show"The View";Keep Rosie and your ratings

By Lakwyia, published on May 28, 2007

Most of the daytime talk shows that are routinely watched in various households can be very entertaining at times. For instance, the daytime talk show "The View" has recently become familiar to some in the last few months and the only reason it is being watched is because of Rosie O'Donnell. It doesn't matter what the show is about, Rosie brings out the life in that show. She says what is on her mind and you have to admit, that is the reason why the show is called "The View". If they let Rosie go, the ratings in that show will go down. Ever since the show let Star Jones go, it hasn't been the... (more)
