Another Family Reunion! Shoot Me. Shoot Us All.
It is a tired topic. As much as we love and adore them, our family can take us from 0 to 60 on the rage and frustration meter in 2.6 seconds. I might be willing to die for these people but I also may be the cause of their demise if they don't SHUT UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE. And it's not just me. I can’t count how many times I have heard the equivalent of “I had Sunday dinner with the family and after two hours I was about to go psycho!” The offending relative is usually participating in a variety of seemingly innocuous actions such as: clicking their dentures,... Tarnished Tiarria - The Nightmare Of Prom Night
Your little girl has been asked to prom. If she is an underclassman it's an instant hike up on the ever-shifting popularity chart. Maybe it's her own prom and she has never been before. Either way, prom ranks huge on the social scale. There will be endless talk about what is to be done with hair, nails, shoes, flowers, jewelry and the seemingly unending search for the dress. Many trips will be made to stores, online browsing until finally she finds IT. You may be shocked at the price, especially for a gown that will only be worn once! Which is actually a good thing because in the... (more)

Broowaha Founder Finding Fault?
BrooWaha is an interesting hobby. Writers who have been published and have agents can come here to keep in touch with the cutting edge/intelligent people who do their reading online instead of between hard covers. Writers who are unpublished can have at it, accept constructive criticism and practice writing with the hope of improving their game. Writers can check out stats which keep you humble instead of just hearing from readers who blow smoke up your ass. And you make friends... well at least you get to know people when you read what they have to say and you can track... (more)

You Have The Right To Fail
I am a fortunate person who has the opportunity to work in a variety of capacities and one thing I get to do is work with students. . There is always something new in the field of education and the experts have much to tell us about how we are doing it all wrong. The truth is however, we are doing it all wrong.
One thing students are burdened with is a lot, and I mean a LOT of homework. This is not your Grandma’s homework with “new math” and weekly spelling lists, oh no, it’s calculus, chapters and chapters of scientific data and English literature with stacks of books to be finished... (more)

Stop Whining!
My first few articles on Broowaha were about men. The way we think and sometimes relate to women. Those were unappreciated articles by most, sharply critiqued and appeared to hit a nerve with the anonymous critics, some of who I personally know. Interesting. Anyway, I started writing about other subjects, not really for any other reason other than I know about some other things besides being male. There are those amongst you however that won’t let me forget my past and have challenged me to do it again. I got a lot of emails regarding my writing and recently one of my “fans” assailed... (more)

The Walking Wounded
Recently I had the privilege of participating in an outstanding event, hosted by the organization “Challenge Day”. You may have seen Challenge Day coverage on Oprah or other various media coverage. There is some great video of Challenge Day on their website . As good as the site is, I am here to tell you it pales in comparison to the real thing. Our Challenge Day experience began bright and early on a regularly scheduled school day, with about 100 students, a few staff members and two of the Challenge Day workers in a large room at a local community center. Rule number one is that... (more)

The Fine Line
I am looking for success so of course, I live in Los Angeles. If the fine line between insanity and genius is success, the question that begs to be asked is; “Success as defined by whom, and who says it is in LA?” The LA mindset is focused on a type of “success” that may not be defined the same way in say, Kalamazoo, Michigan or Biloxi, Mississippi. LA is obsessed with questions such as; “Does Brittany have genius machinery keeping her in the public eye on a constant daily basis doing things such as being mobbed buying gum and losing custody of her... Party Like A Rock Star~!
PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR! If you are expecting to read about keg stands, crusty nacho cheese and mandatory hot party girls, stop reading now because I have nothing in this article about any of that. Well ok, maybe the girls. Other than that you are going to get a crash course in how to prepare for a great party. It took me years to learn some of this stuff, so pay attention. If you are like 99.5% of the American population, you don't have enough hours in the day. Most couples, friends, family, and work contacts communicate by texting, cell phones, emails and meals. Meeting for dinner... (more)

The Yellow Rose, for one more day.
I ran into Target today to grab a couple things and then found myself (as I often do) in the book section. I saw a copy of “Tuesdays With Morrie†and picked it up for a friend who has never read it. I have had the good fortune of meeting Mitch Albom and really like him, and this books. I got home, took a look and dammit, I had picked up the wrong one. The book I bought was titled “For One More Day†instead of "Tuesdays With Morrie" by the same author. I opened it and read these words on the cover flap; “It explores the question: "What would you do if you could spend one more day with... (more)

Stuff. MY Stuff
The subject matter of my writing is pretty much about stuff. I watch people and when I observe stuff that is amazing or amusing, I muse about it a bit. My journalism is pretty much sarcastic but all in good fun and never meant to offend. I also find it both entertaining and remarkable that most of the people who choose to comment do so about me, and say relatively little about my work. The most compelling part of this equation is that they know NOTHING about me. They scan a sentence or two and then vomit rudely in the comment section (based on their own stuff) I assume. It’s fine, just... (more)
