This year's playoffs features more parity than in any recent seasons. Will Wild Card teams like Green Bay and the Jets go deep in the brackets? Or will the leading teams (New Orleans & Indy) reach the Promised Land called the Super Bowl? Get your fantasy playoff rosters and your score squares ready, because here I go:
Jets vs. Bengals: The Jets are hot and their defense is tough! Jets win!
Ravens vs. Pats: Baltimore is better and improving, but Brady and Moss will prevail. Pats!

As of today, I’ve lost approximately a total of 70 lbs. within a 26-month period, which roughly means a drop of 2.7 lbs. per month. What took me so long, some people have asked me? Losing the weight slowly by gradually changing my diet and lifestyle has helped me keep it off, because now I’m confident that the poundage will stay off forever. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to lose it, because you’re changing your life and in my case, I saved my life. Now maybe I can possibly live into my 70’s or 80’s. How many old people do you see walking around at more than 300 lbs. plus? Not many.... (more)
Recently, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety told car manufacturers that they are going to have to make vehicle roofs thicker and stronger if they want to attain top safety ratings. It’s a smart decision and one that needed to be made. Too many injuries occur in accidents where cars flip over onto their roofs, which then collapse. This announcement will help save lives and make our cars safer. Many of us spend as much as 20% of our waking hours in our cars, so we obviously want then to be as safe as possible.
I was in an accident many years ago in which the vehicle I was in flipped.... (more)
In these supposedly post-recession times, I’m looking for any positive economic indicators that I can find. Well, I found a very promising one the other day and I’m enthused. The news is good and we’re on our way out of this slump…finally! And my information is 100% solid.
Let me explain. I was walking my dogs this weekend when one of them dropped a stinky package on the sidewalk. Suddenly I realized that I didn’t have a poo bag with me, which means I’m stuck. I pride myself on being a responsible poo-picking-up dog owner. Many people just leave their mutt’s feces on the ground and walk... (more)
The missile flies through the air, silently traveling at high speeds toward its destination. Thrown with utmost accuracy, it will hit within millimeters of its target almost every time. Am I talking about a Major League Baseball pitcher? A pro football quarterback? A javelin thrower? No, I’m referring to a nun. That’s right, a nun. And she’s not hurling a baseball, a football or a javelin. What she throws with uncanny skill is a chalkboard eraser. But let’s not get carried away. Let’s start at the beginning.
All the things I can most vividly remember from my childhood revolve around... (more)
I’m 15 and it’s the middle of a doldrums-filled summer. It’s a sweaty hot day, a real record breaker. It feels like I have a melting fruit rollup covering my face. I’m convinced that flies are nesting in my hair. Soon they will start to breed.
Here I am, with nothing to do, just sitting on an old couch with a broken spring in it. I can tell it’s busted by the squeaking sound it makes every time I breathe. All I can think about is this sharp rusty spring coiled and poised -- just inches away and preparing to bore its way into my left butt cheek the next time I blink. That was the day I... (more)

Honda is canine-conscious and they’re proving it with a new dog-friendly car that has mutts drooling and wagging their tails worldwide.

A folding ramp gives animals an easy way to get in and out.
In the back seat, there's an integrated pet carrier and machine-washable seat covers to make it... (more)
ZAP, headquartered in Santa Rosa, Calif., has been on the leading edge of all-electric transportation for a long time now, with some amazing electric vehicles on the market and in development. They make electric sedans, trucks; even scooters and ATVs. Two veteran automotive executives, H. Dennis Kammerer and Rodger L. Cornish, recently noted that electric car pioneer ZAP is already building all-electric models, and the US government should offer support to companies who are already building plug-in transportation.
I sat down with representatives from ZAP at the National Automobile Dealers... (more)
