Down To The Wire

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 27, 2010

The NFL season is about to come down to the wire. One more Sunday and in some cases it's the day to decide it all as a couple of divisions are still undecided.

AFC South - The Colts and Jags continue to duke it out for the top spot in the division. The Colts are on top right now at an uncharacteristic 9 and 6. The Colts have been beaten up all year. I know they must be on their 17th set of receivers by now and their defense must have been loaned to them by the UFL. Peyton Manning has basically willed them to win. Just fighting through injury after injury pushing forward and trying... (more)

Really Cowboys?!

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 26, 2010

The Cowboys are just a mess. They just cannot seem to get anything together. I have my own thoughts as the reasons why and I think I'm right for the part. I also think that unless big changes are made, the Cowboys stay mired in the dregs of the NFL for a good long time.

The Cowboys have some extremely talented players. But you would never know it by the way they play most of the time. I think that the Cowboys have 3 problems. One, Jerry Jones. The owner is just too involved in the day to day activities. He cannot let the team evolve as it is with the players and the coaches.... (more)

I Resolve

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 26, 2010

It's a big tradition as one year comes to a close and another starts to open its books, making resolutions. Many people decide to make some kind of change in their lives be it big or small to ring in the New Year. I'm just not one of these people.

I don't like to set myself up for failure and I've always felt that New Year's resolutions are the perfect path to this. New Year's resolutions can be very grand undertakings. Stopping smoking. Cutting out caffeine. Losing many pounds. Getting rid of a bad relationship. Starting a new relationship. Remaking your entire existence.... (more)

Love Is

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 22, 2010

Back in the 80s, the phrase Love Is…Never Having To Say You're Sorry, was very popular. It was everywhere. In my opinion, that's a bit naive, as saying you're sorry just kind of comes with the territory of relationships at one point or another. To me love is many things and here I share just a few. Some may be things that mean love to you, some may not. What love is, is different to everyone - and yet somehow the same.

Love is - someone who will take time out of their busy day to call you just to tell you a joke.

Love is - someone who goes to the grocery and comes back with... (more)

The Big One

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 22, 2010

During the NFL season, there are several games that can be big ones for teams. Division games. Games to clinch a play off spot or a division title. Games to clinch home field advantage in the post season. The upcoming Monday night game is just such a game - the big one.

The Atlanta Falcons face off against in division rival New Orleans Saints at home on Monday night. The Falcons have already clinched their spot in the playoffs with an amazing 12 and 2 record on the season. The Saints are still hanging in and have an opportunity to make the playoffs as well. With a win over the... (more)

Pick Me Up

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 21, 2010

The online dating/social networking site badoo.com conducted a study to reveal the most successful pick up or opening line phrases in online dating. These phrases seem to differ by culture, but one phrase won out over all the others...."You have beautiful lips." Interesting no?

Commenting on someone's lips is very personal and conveys a desire to experience said lips. It conjures up visions of kisses. Fantasy worlds where kisses rival anything else one can experience. Kissing is very personal and connects two people immediately body to body. It is of course a gateway, if only in... (more)

Kings Of The League

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 21, 2010

On any given Sunday, any NFL team can become kings of the league. Sometimes it's with a memorable play. Sometimes it's with an upset win. And sometimes, it's for an epic comeback for the ages. The Philadelphia Eagles had one such comeback vs the Giants and with it became kings of the league for a day.

The Giants had dominated the game for almost 4 quarters. Three quarters and 8 minutes to be exact. They had held the Eagles down throughout most of the game. They had sacked Michael Vick 3 times. Vick had thrown an interception. The Eagles looked for all intents and purposes as... (more)

Redskins Need A Psychiatrist

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 18, 2010

The Washington Redskins have done one thing after another all season that makes it very clear they need psychiatric help. One decision after another that makes no sense and does nothing to help their team win. This weekend it has reached the last straw and an intervention may be necessary.

The Redskins decided to put Donovan McNabb on the bench and start Rex Grossman vs the Cowboys. This is the very same Rex Grossman who was run out of Chicago on a rail because he was an inadequate QB. Listen closely, he still is. There is nothing absolutely nothing that would make one think he... (more)

Never Too Old

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 17, 2010

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is making giant gingerbread Christmas cookies with the kids. Even though my boys are no longer kids, they still love making these cookies and of course eating them. It's something that we do together on Christmas Eve and they always look forward to it every year. The house smells absolutely yummy and the cookies are really wonderful on a chilly Christmas Eve night. Here's the recipe, if you want to try it out yourself:

Hockey - 24/7

By Deborah Horton, published on Dec 17, 2010

HBO has decided to check out the NHL on it's acclaimed 24/7 sport series. In the past they have covered boxing and NASCAR and also developed the now infamous New York Jets "Hard Knocks" show. The NHL 24/7 features the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals and for hockey fans it is must see TV.

The series decided to follow the teams in the regular season. In the daily grind of professional hockey. They chose 2 teams who have some star power players in Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin. It follows the teams dealing with wins and losses, devastating losses, series of losses.... (more)
