Why Hate Torture?

By Chris Jones, published on Jul 9, 2007

People who feel compassion for our enemies are terribly misguided. The idea that we have to treat captured terrorists with kid gloves is ridiculous. If someone we capture has information we need, the only thing that should matter is that we get that information no matter what it takes. These Islamic radicals that we capture are the most ruthless and savage individuals on the planet and don’t deserve even an ounce of sympathy. Anyone who doubts the blood thirsty nature of these people need only to search the Internet to find a treasure trove of Jihad murder videos with fresh ones being added... (more)

Taking The Terror Threat Seriously

By Chris Jones, published on Jul 2, 2007

A sentiment that I often hear expressed is that somehow the threat of terrorism isn’t real, and the “War on Terror” is something that was invented by the Bush Administration purely for political gain. The cynicism that many have about terrorism is not only dangerous but just plain foolish. The recent bombing attempts in Britain and Scotland only serve to underscore the continued danger we all face from radical Islam. British authorities said today that the bombers attempted to detonate the devices using a cell phone and only a wiring glitch stopped them from exploding. Cell phone records... (more)

Mike Nifong And Prosecutors Gone Wild

By Chris Jones, published on Jun 18, 2007

I have to admit that watching Mike Nifong get disbarred was really a beautiful thing. To watch a man who spent his entire life prosecuting others who now finds himself the one being prosecuted is what "sticking it to the man" is all about. The sad truth is that Nifong's outrageous and illegal behavior is not as uncommon as people may believe. We have prosecutors all over this country who care more about appearing to be "tough on crime" to the voters than about actual justice. We are building new jails and prisons in nearly all 50 states as fast as they can be built to deal with chronic overcrowding.... (more)

Life After The Sopranos

By Chris Jones, published on Jun 11, 2007

The controversy continues to rage across the country over the final episode of The Sopranos which aired last night. Some feel like they were left hanging and many thought there cable went out when the final scene abruptly cut out. I too felt rather unfulfilled after it was over, but after sleeping on it and further reflection over coffee I am a bit more content. I always expected the ending to be something completely different than all the scenarios being speculated on in the blogosphere. In a strange way David Chase’s decision to end the show by the screen just going black lets everyone... (more)

Stop Crying About "Unequal Justice"

By Chris Jones, published on Jun 7, 2007

Everybody needs to stop whining about unequal justice for Paris Hilton. Take a few minutes to study the laws in Los Angeles and look at past cases before you get too shrill. Being sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating probation on a reckless driving charge is unheard of. Paris didn't get special treatment she got hosed by a Judge who was trying to make a name for himself. I am willing to bet that when the Phil Spector trial concludes and if he's found not guilty of murder, you won't see a fraction of the outrage that has been expressed over Paris Hilton. The claim continues to be made by... (more)

Why Hate Paris?

By Chris Jones, published on Jun 4, 2007

Has Paris Hilton affected your life in any way? Has Paris Hilton caused physical or emotional harm to you? Could it be that she is at fault for global warming or possibly the war in Iraq? Surely she’s responsible for Katie Couric’s low ratings or the VA Tech massacre. She would have to be at fault for one of these things or at least something to warrant the kind of hatred aimed at her in recent weeks. Every single television program from the early morning to late night has called her a “horrible person” and expressed the hope that in addition to serving a full jail sentence that she also... (more)
