"I saw the Mayor of New York said today, 'We're tough. We can do it.' Well, Mayor, how are you going to feel when it's your daughter that's kidnapped at school by a terrorist? How are you going to feel when it's some clerk -- some innocent clerk of the court -- whose daughter or son is kidnapped? Or the judge's wife? Or the jailer's little brother or little sister?" Rep. John Shadegg R Arizona
"I think the President will find, upon reflection, that to bring the worst of the terrorists inside the United States would be cause for great danger and regret in the years to come.” Former Vice... (more)
I started writing for this site a long time ago. It was within the first few months of its inception as a matter of fact. I was invited to this site from an ad on Craigslist. Does anyone else remember that thing? The ad asked would-be authors to come join a "revolution" in journalism in which the people decide what they want seen in their newspaper. It said things like writers will no longer be influenced by special interest newspapers and editors and would be allowed to express themselves as the true voice of the people. Needless to say I was hooked, and I quickly fell in love with the... (more)
Well folks greetings once again. It has been just over two years since I have tossed a few words onto the Broowaha communities' pages and since that time a great deal has changed here in Broowaha as well as everywhere else around me. I have been away from Broowaha and writing in public for that matter for a number of reasons I won't go into too much. But I felt that given the fervor in the US over healthcare reform it was high time I came out of hiding and once again offered up a few hundred words on the state of things as I see them in the country I call home.
Once again... (more)
The Live Earth movement kicked off with a concert yesterday, which was heard in multiple cities around the world. This event marked the beginning of the celebration of all people all around the planet coming together and finally sustaining our home. This movement ain't just for hippies anymore. For 24 hours the concert played to over 2 billion people worldwide. The number of artists who played goes on and on and included as follows in no particular order: THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, KT TUNSTALL, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, KEITH URBAN, LUDACRIS, AFI, FALL OUT BOY, AKON, JOHN MAYER, MELISSA ETHERIDGE,... Love him or hate him, one cannot argue Michael Moore knows how to gain your attention. It is never over when this fat man sings. In case you've been under mountain for the last week Moore has a new film coming out, June 29, called SiCKO. It would be pretty hard not to know this, however, given the buzz that is circling around it. Without spending a dime in advertising, news about this movie, thanks in large part to the publicity of the so-called "leak" of the film to the P2P pirate websites, has by now reached the ears and eyes of just about every red-blooded American with a computer, T.V.,... "Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." - Ronald Reagan "Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job." - Douglas Adams It is becoming more and more apparent that a person can do more good for their country by remaining free from political office and staying out of Washington. This axiom has never been truer than in the case of former Vice-President, Al Gore. As of this moment like a jaded lover unwilling to forgive us for not fighting... (more)
Last month, chief of NASA, Michael Griffin, in an interview worthy of Mad Magazine, announced that we need not worry about global warming anymore, not because he had a solution, but because we all were wrong to think that it will be all that bad. He single-handedly reversed the argument denying the impending global climate disaster, by flopping a steamer, which brought intellectual debate in this country, (if it still can be called as such), to an all time low. A death gasp, which, if this wasn't so serious, would have made even the softest hearted and compassionate Buddhist, burst into sadistic... (more)
A new video from Orange County's least favorite native, Azzam al-Amriki, (formerly Adam Yehiye Gadahn, formerly Adam Pearlman), was released to the public this week and it didn't take long for the media circus to begin. Although ABC news had the jump on the competition the rest of the networks soon followed with opinions and commentary from the armies of pundits and reporters quick to spin the video toward whatever end suits their fancy. This latest darling of the infotainment industry has accomplished his aim and become equally as infamous as the other al-Qaeda produced video stars, Ayman... (more)
Reports are still sketchy and investigations are underway but one thing is clear since last summer the North American bee population has decreased by 40, 60, and even as much as 70 percent in some areas. Hundreds of millions of bees disappeared and/or died over the winter. Honey farms across the county are reporting thousands of hives decimated and not one person, farmer or scientist, can conclusively explain why. Theories are flying and speculations range from cell phone signals messing with the bees communications to each other, to a bee version of a pandemic such as Aids. Even abusive... (more)
Major changes are taking place over at America's parent's house and it would appear that for Tony Blair, Bush's only remaining ally in the Iraq war who still exposed himself to his critics, Merry Ole' England has become little less merry. Perhaps they sent Queen Mum over here to distract our President with all the pageantry. For while Bush was busy figuring out how to keep BBQ sauce off his new white tie, and as he stumbled over speeches that called the Queen hundreds of years old, some monumental decisions took place across the puddle, revealing that the steely resolved Brits ain't so...
