AHCA - neither Healthy nor Caring

By Caballero_69, published on Mar 28, 2017

The AHCA, also known as Trumpcare, is not a health care proposal nor is it a sound deficit reduction measure. The AHCA is a boon to billionaires and corporations disguised as both. Recent suggestions that Trump will accede to the stripping of required protections makes this cruel offering even more malicious.

Required coverage for maternity care, mental health coverage, outpatient hospital care, and prescription drugs, In-hospital care, Lab tests, and substance abuse disorder services prevent insurers from resuming the sale of “junk policies.” This scam is not some vague speculation.... (more)

Muath Gave All!

By Caballero_69, published on Feb 5, 2015

All give some either here or there

Whether on land, sea or in the air

The brave alone fight when the fight’s not fair.

Let us thank whatever gods may be

That he took flight so valiantly.

In Jordan’s defense and against horror and pain,

That ruthless zealotry is bringing back again.

He flew and fell. He was thrown in a cage.

Thus, fanatics provoked worldwide outrage

Now they must be eradicated from the world stage.

Zealots bargained falsely for his life.

In the face of hate and strife

He loved honor more than... (more)

Nobody but the Brave

By Caballero_69, published on Aug 24, 2013

Tonight as the darkness falls

I'm thinking back fondly to 1963 And the way our lives and outlook used to be As the hallowed words come back to me From TV shows, the voices ring out In quite moments when the silence can nearly shout I recall how we would walk and, talk about What we had to do so the dream would work out

You said: Nobody but the brave Nobody but the brave Those alone are strong enough to save Something from what everybody gave

Nobody but the brave Nobody but the brave

It seems these nights I see you again my friend The way you looked way back then... (more)

Stand for Justice

By Caballero_69, published on Jul 27, 2013

Where justice is denied,

Ignorance and enmity prevail.

Where one group is oppressed,

Every group must face travail.

Many yearn for peace

With a pure and sincere desire

But unless they also fight for justice

True peace has no chance to transpire.

When the presumptions of some

Degrade or malign any

People and their property are endangered,

Be they the few or the many.

Where a youth is wrongly suspected

Bigotry runs wild.

When a vigilante pulls the trigger,

He executes a child.

When... (more)

The Madness and Malice of Bombers

By Caballero_69, published on Apr 18, 2013

Bombs are rankling malice given ferocious execution.

Obscenely they pervert technical ingenuity into malignant insanity.

Stealthy, assassins who slay without caring whose lives they steal

Turing satisfaction, hopes, and triumphs into sorrows, horrors, and tragedies

Only cruel, craven rouges bomb people celebrating community spirit.

Neither torturous logic nor grotesque posturing mitigates this atrocity!

Much time and energy will now be expended by trained investigators.

All possibilities will be evaluated and no stone will go unturned.

Resolute... (more)

Mitt Romney's Blatant Opportunism

By Caballero_69, published on Sep 14, 2012

With his disgraceful comments regarding the Foreign Service and the Obama administration in the aftermath of the murder of American diplomats in Libya, Myth Romney revealed he is a rapid-response opportunist enfolded steeped in cynicism and smugly satisfied as such.

On Tuesday morning, the U.S. embassy in Cairo issued a statement which “condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims—as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions... (more)

The False Alarm of Secularism

By Caballero_69, published on Apr 6, 2012

Responding to a question about the HHS contraceptive regulation Romney declared, "“I think there is a desire to establish a religion in America known as secularism.”

Politicans are notorius for saying outlandish things. This has gotten worse in American politics year after year and it seems the 2012 elections will shatter all records for lies and lunacy on the campaign trail. The candidates of one of the two major parties seem to meld Constitutional ignorance with campaigning unscrupulousness in a toxic mix of say anything about anything regardless of its malicious or fallacious nature.

A Child Is Dead!

By Caballero_69, published on Apr 4, 2012

Breathes there a one with soul so dead

As never to oneself have said

No matter what excuses may be pled

A child is dead!

In a seemingly prosperous Florida town

A young black boy was wantonly gunned down

The police were summoned and quickly came

But the lad lay dead all the same.

Must we not all wonder why?

A happy, friendly child had to die.

He went to the store and was coming back

Then was slain for the crime of “walking while black.”

For too long this has been the case

People hating people based on... (more)

Stand Together

By Caballero_69, published on Aug 23, 2011

Although I am not with you,

You are in my mind and heart.

I want to share a few words

As this school year is about to start.

Because the future seems terribly uncertain,

This much is surely true.

You must focus on the here and now

It is all there is to do.

Each month this year will be another stage in the ongoing battle

You begin this year with drastic changes as you have in every other

Therefore, your only hope is to work and pull together

Help, support, and care for one another.

As in the past, so now again,

Send Forth a Ripple

By Caballero_69, published on Aug 20, 2011

Whether our life circumstances be happy or harsh,

We have the chance to send forth a ripple even when we cannot make a wave.

From a mountain of despair,

We can work to cleave a stone of hope.

Into an ocean of dismay,

We can cast out a rope.

The world abounds with frightening stories.

Tales of woe in our ears ring.

In turbulent times, fear commonly springs,

Clutching our hearts and ripping our souls on beating bat wings.

We ask of ourselves, “Oh, what can we do?”

For comfort and aid, whom can we turn to?

The... (more)
