Understanding Depression

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 28, 2014

Major clinical depression is one of the most common mental disorders. In spite of this, many do not understand what it means to have clinical depression. Tragically to this day, this condition is often times judged wrongly and misunderstood. In the process of this happening, many suffer without understanding or the proper steps to help them with this.

While suffering from depression people are fearful, robbed in life before they even begin. Depression is not something to be ignored or made light of. It is a serious condition which if let untreated will move to an even more... (more)

Wake Up World

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 13, 2014

"Anything you do from the soulful self will help lighten the burdens of the world. Anything. You have no idea what the smallest word, the tiniest generosity can cause to be set in motion. Be outrageous in forgiving. Be dramatic in reconciling. Mistakes? Back up and make them as right as you can, then move on. Be off the charts in kindness. In whatever you are called to, strive to be devoted to it in all aspects large and small. Fall short? Try again. Mastery is made in increments, not in leaps. Be brave, be fierce, be visionary. Mend the parts of the world that are within your reach.... (more)

A Mirage Of My Heart

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 1, 2014

Gazing over what appears as

A boundary between earth and sky

As if a mirage is gently

Blooming on the distant blue horizon...

A sinuous wavelike movement

Flowing freely in this sea of contemplation

I see you rise and fall

Watching your hands trashing....

Waving one last time a goodbye

Or are you beckoning me closer

To rescue us from this divergence

Which has no solution in sight....

I keep my distance

Only watching, only seeing, only feeling

To return will plant a snarl of hope

Where... (more)

Moments Of Perception

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jul 26, 2014

Someday....many moons from now

In another place and time

I know not where

There will be moments recognized

I will look into your eyes and know you

Know you without knowing

As if we have shared a different

Lifetime where we were joined

As kindred souls blessed with truth...

I will already know your heart

With no words spoken between us

An instinct which surpasses time

I will recognize your scent as if

I have breathed you into my being

Infusing itself within my own essence

Your laugh will... (more)

Divine Compensation

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jul 16, 2014

I know many of you may read this and not agree with me. But I know in my own life, this is what works for me. I refuse to walk around with bitterness, anger, or negativity of any kind.

It is easier, in my humble opinion, to bless someone than to harm them....if someone betrays you, pray for them....you want to change it, pray for them...pray for 5 minutes for their happiness for 30 days...because this is what alchemy is , this is what it is... any magical power or process of transmuting a common substance, usually of little value, into a substance of great value. Basically what... (more)

Why Do We Fear Making Mistakes?

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jun 27, 2014

"A life without mistakes is lived without joy."

Most of us fear mistakes more then anything. Mistakes bring on ridicule in some cases. But then you have to look at the source of that ridicule and determine if they have any right to be judging you, and what their own issues may be. Mistakes expose the frail, unsure insecure person we can be. You really need to examine where this type of thinking is coming from. Somewhere along the line, someone has hurt you, and you have allowed them, in some ways, to take away your personal power. You can, and need to take it... (more)

I Will Always Hold You In My Heart

By Barbara MacDonald , published on May 28, 2014

Trying...

To teach myself to think of you

Without so much emotion

Without longing to look

Into your sweet eyes

Which showed me your soul

A soul connected to my own...

When will the pain stop?

How do I let it be at peace?

I told you long ago

I did not want to live in a world

Without you

Now you are gone

My souls still cries for you...

I am here

You are there

In a better place

So they say

I am selfish

I want you here with me

My heart not able

To let... (more)

The Obfuscation Of Life

By Barbara MacDonald , published on May 14, 2014

Life truly is what you make it

I will not waste my energy

On the world testing my resolve

I do not live on a rock of

Man-made obligations

Painting me into a box...

To that I say

Go, go from me

I will never embrace

This unjust living trying

To enslave my heart

With what will never blossom

Into my known purpose....

I refuse to stumble and fall

When weary I hold tight to faith

Knowing there is nothing that

Will shatter my resolve

Having been blessed and branded

With trials... (more)

Finding Healing

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Apr 19, 2014

Today I wake with a hunger

to search the valley

A place where birth lingers

with it's sacred memories

Instead I find voices of condemnation

wounds which left me bleeding, sticks and stones

Still I look for healing, grace, truth, reality beyond

the narrow confines of intolerance and judgement.....

Finding none...

I climbed the mountain summit

Where I had placed my hopes and dreams

Breathless with perseverance

Resolution and persistence my tools

Embracing only the shadow of what had been

once upon... (more)
