True Colors

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 18, 2015

True Colors- Cyndi Lauper ....

The reason I have always loved this song is that it expresses so clearly the way I look at the people in my world.

First I see you with my eyes.

Then as I get to know you, (and I always seem to want to know people on a deeper level)., I want to know your heart. I am not very content with the shallow stuff ,which has little significance to me.

I want to know what makes your heart beat faster.

What makes you cry.

What makes you smile, and gives you joy.

I want to know if you can be vulnerable... (more)

Memories Of The Heart

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 16, 2015

In the whisper of the wind

On the golden red horizon

The rustle of the leaves

Rouse my longings

Latent quiescent reflections...

Remembering the times

We were together

The times we were apart

Never separate in heart or soul

Transcending space and time....

Walking hand in hand

On the sun-baked winter ground

Beneath a slate blue sky

The trees like skeletons

Their raised arms a plea to heaven.....

Dusk to Dawn together as one

Watching the dusk embrace the daylight

With open arms... (more)

An Unwelcome Journey

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 12, 2015

I know I must not go there

The cost is too high to pay

Yet I hear a silent calling of my name

Almost prayer like as if

Someone is crying in their sleep

I ask to be shown, to bring to

Fruition with sacred truth

But my thoughts, prayers

Go unanswered, unacknowledged

As if they never existed or bore fruit

I gather my shattered heart

Tuck it safely in God's hands

Wondering if I shall return

In some unforeseen lifetime

To finish which was begun

And left to wilt in a forgotten

Dream ....

Empathy

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Feb 7, 2015

I see me in you...I feel me in you....

My heart is too soft, I know I hurt myself...

I do not know how to NOT care

To Not Feel

What you feel...

I have asked God many times

WHY..and what do you want me to do

The answers come slowly,

Not always on my time table.

But yet they come,

So I listen longer, harder.

Opening my heart to go inside

This unknown vision

Waiting to be taught patience

With Your divine guidance.

I surrender my life to what is gifted

Beyond my knowing

Into The Wind

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jan 28, 2015

As I stand with kite in hand I cast my words into the wind With good intention I hold on Knowing also the fear of letting go

I know I am strong,

I know I have courage

To face the raging storm

Growing inside my distracted dismay

But not Today...

Today I will let my heart weep

Emptying and cleansing

Holding only what brings

Understanding...

All I have been given

Must be released

Without expectation

May the wind carry these words

To another lost soul to pick up

Holding them in their needful... (more)

There Will Come A Time

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jan 23, 2015

Lately I have felt the sadness

In you.

I see it in your eyes

Taste it in your soul....

This fills my own heart with sorrow

Because, as much as I know I could help

You pull away, to escape to this lost place...

A place that feds your addiction

To what I know you are better than

I fear you are getting lost

Becoming what you are not.....

My prayers travel to you, although

You do not know

You do not see

You do not feel....

They rise above this vision of illusion

I know your struggle

We All Have A Story

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jan 17, 2015

We are defined by the stories we tell ourselves..but the question is...is your story empowering you or causing you to fall short . Story does not mean it is not true...but to continue to focus on it will not empower you. My story...I was given up, I was rejected, thrown away.

Later because of the love of my Mama, who adopted me , it became I was chosen....Biography is the farthest thing from your destiny...Your choices are your destiny, and who you will become.

We are in control of only two things...first, how we prepare for what may happen, and secondly how we response... (more)

A Poem Of Love

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jan 15, 2015

I consecrate this poem

to you my beloved

It is all I possess

and hold sacred in my heart...

I consecrate it's rhythm,

pulse, symmetry and soul

To you to hold and cherish

when I am away or simply gone....

Material possessions

are endless

Bought and sold within a moment

Squandered and consumed....

This poem given birth within

moments of remembrance

Crafted forever through time

Found accidentally in an old book....

I consecrate this poem to you

My only gift to give

Choices

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jan 5, 2015

Stagnate or expanding?

Destroying or creating?

Acquiring through sharpened thoughts

Exposing one's own wounds....

Instead,

with the transparent softness of compassion

Helping to heal the wounds of another....

To embrace the shell of yesterday?

Or slow dance into the puzzle of now....?

We make this choice

Everyday, every moment

Although we often forget

That it is

Always

Our

Choice

The choice between

Stagnate or expanding

Destroying or creating

Life and Death.....

Unanswered

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jan 1, 2015

You heard my prayers on bended knees

I wept spilling bloody tears of confusion

Did you not hear me?

Did you not see me?

Did you not care?

Because...

You never answered

You never showed yourself to me

You made no acknowledgement....

You simply turned your back and

quietly walked away....

Now I will find my own answers

Given from above with true intention

They lift me from this illusion

They make mine burden bearable.

Endured and tolerated is over-rated

It slowly rips your heart and... (more)
