More To Life

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jun 5, 2012

Crossing the rivers of indifferenceSwimming into awarenessWhere all the whirling stopsThe heart wins over the mind...There is more to life thanmeets the eye....Perceptions running freeLike crystal clear waterfallsBringing the gift of lucidityRevealing the perfect reality...There is more to life thanmeets the eye....Touching the very essenceIn which all life is rootedI'll call upon the silenceThe vast void...There is more to life thanmeets the eye....Defining my illusionsI will ban from my soulAll the melancholy accumulatedFrom endless nights of longing...There is more to life... (more)

Let My Hearts' Song Be Gods' Breath

By Barbara MacDonald , published on May 30, 2012

Let My Hearts' Song Be Gods' Breath

They say that God rests in reason...

That God moves in passion...

Your soul being the battleground...

Bring me sweet unity I pray...

Let not my mind rule my heart...

Gift me with the instinct and grace...

To discern false temptations...

To unite my justification...

With dedication flowing from

A heart filled with truth and devotion...

Let us meet and embrace in the clouds...

Lifted in elegance and ardor beyond

Earthly adobe and transplanted bewilderment...

Bring... (more)

An Eclipse Of My Soul

By Barbara MacDonald , published on May 26, 2012

An Eclipse Of My Soul

My mind floats

Through the merging

Of illuminated dreams starry spots

Of luminescence

Moving towards the void

Of silence which softens

And hugs the illusions

Which once held my dreams

Letting go of what never was

And embracing possibilities

Of what may be

Overcoming my ambience

Which obscures my mind

An eclipse of my soul

Which I will hold sacred

In my memories...

"A friend of mine had posted a song on Facebook which I had never heard and I loved it... so I... (more)

Mark Sky...Another Lesson...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on May 23, 2012

To kind of paint you a picture of what it was like on an average day in the drop-in, let me give you a little info so you can maybe visualize it better. I know when I started working there I truly had no idea how much I would love and hate it at the same time. The love part came with my ability to see beauty in all people . I just usually choose to focus on the positive no matter what the situation. Working there that certainly was a helpful thing. The hate part came from the frustration of knowing I could do so much more. Unfortunately when you work for non-profit there is only so... (more)

Everybody Is Beautiful

By Barbara MacDonald , published on May 6, 2012

I am revisiting Howard for those of my new friends who may enjoy meeting Howard....another person gone but not forgotten. Howard was one of the many people I met and worked with at a drop-in for the homeless....The many lessons I was privileged to learn from so many has stood the test of time and bettered my own life in so many ways. I would like to tell you about Howard, another one of God's beautiful creations. Howard was around 30 years old and had been coming to the drop-in for around 5 years. Under all the crazy long reddish brown matted hair, the fringed suede coat, the dirty... (more)
