Storms

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jul 19, 2012

Standing firmly on

the jagged edge of

stained boulder ...Contemplating the

eye of the storm

churn the mouth of oceanic neptunium

in front of me...I am like that

rain drenched

humming-bird...

Dauntlessly

rising to touch the stars

I will not wait

for rainbows...

I will love the rain...

" A poet is someone who stands outside in the rain hoping to be struck by lightning."

Let It Rain...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jul 14, 2012

Let It Rain

The rain is pouring Within my soul Helplessly I watch Unresponsive to my longing I try to make the flood stop Holding it within Unsuccessful it escapes ... My tears falling undiminished Frightening with the depth Of this unending pain Not to be shut out... Life moves on The earth spinning slowly Day and night passed My eyes watered Hope failing me... My friend asked me One more time The damn burst open Releasing words I knew Not were mine Cresting on the jagged rock A tale too painful To even express... Inside my heart Water inundated Wild... (more)

Thoughts To Ponder

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jul 7, 2012

Thoughts To Ponder

Several years ago the sociology department of Duke University did a study on "peace of mind." Several factors were found to contribute greatly to emotional and mental stability, they are:

Forgive . Rid yourself of suspicion and resentment. Nursing a grudge was a major factor in unhappiness. Forget . Live in the present. An unwholesome preoccupation with old mistakes and failures leads to depression. Accept life . Don't waste time and energy fighting conditions you cannot change. Cooperate with life, instead of trying to run away from it. Stay involved... (more)

Sleep Now

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jul 3, 2012

Sleep now

Don't speak

Lay your head down to rest

Close your eyes now

Don't think

Thoughts can resume tomorrow

Breath in... relax now

Calm and settle down

No planning of tomorrow

Just sweet dreams of tonight.

Your day has been long

And I want you to rest now

Clear your mind for me please

Don't put up a fight,

I know your tired

You need your rest tonight.

Let me comfort you, trust me,

Let me soothe you...

Gently rub your head as you rest

Now you... (more)

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jul 1, 2012

QUESTIONS I have questions to ask You may not like this But it is who I am Have always been I will not change If you need me to Than that alone tells me It will never be alright... Yes, I ask a lot to be Understood through faith The ability to perceive intentions Searching beyond what lays Obviously on and within surface Life is simple and complex As am I ...now and always Can you do this? ... If you know my heart Why is this not possible? Look me in the HEART Do not focus on what you see Feel what is "real" and "true" After you have done this If you still have doubts... (more)

~~~Pray Tell~~~
By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jun 29, 2012
~~~PRAY TELL~~~ If I should come here,

And watch you drenched in the rain

Will you sing for me?

Will you echo the sentiments

Of my beating heart?...

Will you hold me when I

Need the caress of comfort

When a dream dies

When life knocks me

To my knees?...

Do you know the courage

It takes for me to even

Let you touch my joy

And sorrow...

It is real

Opened and broken by

LIFE...

Always Hopeful

That a new day

Brings the beauty

Of rebirth

Of unspoken... (more)

Turning Negative To Positive

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jun 21, 2012

Over the years I have worked with every existence of people. The wealthy, the educated, the uneducated, the middle class, the working poor, the single parent, the homeless. In this, I have often asked myself what is the difference between those who are happy and have fulfillment within; and those who don't. I know this is no " simple " question and the answer surely could take a book or two to answer... but if I could narrow it down to one important reason and somehow simplify it... I would have to say it is how you CHOOSE to receive what life may bring you. Are you able to find... (more)

FLOATING...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jun 15, 2012

FLOATING...

As you hold me safely in your arms Sorrows of life are floating away Like a bird in flight Free and blessed with serenity Now and always It feels so perfect The ice in my heart has melted Surrendered to love's longing Surrounded by the madness I return to my nest content, safe Peacefully holding what matters Outside of this earthly realm I have in my vision a portal The entrance to a heavenly Perception of true existence Leaving false illusions Buried in lost time Returning to the core Floating, floating, floating Hovering, flickering, fluttering... (more)

At Some Point In Time

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jun 12, 2012

At Some Point In Time

At some point in time

the past hurts

betrayals to our souls

scars on our hearts that can't be healed...

or refuse to be--

they simply must be left

buried in time

as holding on to them leaves the wound raw

holds us captive

unforgiving....

no one wins and everyone loses even if we can not see this

we are stuck in time...

unable to move ahead or reach beyond what was

it is a choice between staying chained to darkness or stepping

into the light....
