Soul Dance

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Sep 3, 2012

Do not tell me what your mind says Speak to me of your soul and essence Open yourself to look within What dance is your soul hungry to perform? What lingering winds fuel this dance? What is the purpose as it glides through The platform we call life? Who set the stage for this dance? How was this vision of beauty and wonder Given birth? What does your soul say As it plays out your own unique song? What does your conscious freedom Think of this creation? What does your existence express? What do you offer to the universe That is different than what others bring? What joy... (more)

Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 30, 2012

In working with my clients I have seen so much pain and sorrow and I can not tell you how often I have cursed and asked this question. Why is it that such awful things happen to people? This in particular troubles me when it involves a child. Why is it that an innocent child is made to suffer?

Do we just live in a cruel world where there is no rhyme or reason? Is man innately good or evil? And why is it that some people have to suffer so much and others skate through life with a permanent smile on their faces ?

I know these are a hell of a lot of questions and I am unlikely... (more)

The Power Of Surrender

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 24, 2012

Why is it that we find it so hard to surrender, and what does this really mean? Somehow the word can bring negativity to mind, especially when our comfort zone lies in being in control. I would like you today to consider another context to surrender.( enlarging the definition and putting a positive spin on what surrender can mean to your life.) Let's stretch our mind, thinking, perspective and put down some of the fears that unknowingly can leave us stuck in the same place...repeating behavior that is not working for us, and is not truly bringing peace to our soul. You may rightly... (more)

Remembering A Special Lady...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 17, 2012

The song "The Rose" has always been a favorite of mine and I can not hear this without thinking of a very special lady that I worked with years ago. I had run a support group for women who had been sexually abused. She was a walking testament to the beauty of survival and strength. A red-headed fierce woman, who now was married and the mother of a spirited boy of five.

Many of her struggles involved the fact that her Mother was so attached to this grandchild , giving him so much love and attention. Although the rational part of her appreciated this and wanted this for her son,... (more)

Strength Through Wisdom

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 13, 2012

When the wind blows through the harp

The strings will speak

So are we...

Waiting in patience to be

What we are destined to be...

The barriers will never restrain

Nor hold captive Truth or wisdom

Drinking from a holy chalice

Quenching my body and soul

Refreshed are my parched lips

When I was to perish You brought me The water of life and grace....

Giving me strength to persist Light for mine eyes to see

My limbs restored My heart born again...Copyright © 2012 Barbara MacDonald

Love and The Joy Of Hurting

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jul 31, 2012

I know all of us have struggled with losing someone we love dearly. Some more then others. I found this and thought there was great comfort in these words. I hope they have the same effect on you. Love never dies, it lives in our memories forever. How could it be that someone who was part of your soul just disappears? Life is energy. Love is life. There is no way to put out energy, so therefore it follows that love is eternal also.

"Do you like what you do?" she asked me. "I write about happy things," I said. "Wait a minute. I've read your work. You made me cry sometimes,"... (more)

Tomorrow Is Gone

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jul 28, 2012

Tomorrow Is GoneTomorrow is gone

Lost in a sea of forgotten

No longer holding

Truth or meaning...Ending with no chance

Of even beginning

Buried in so many false

Promises and illusions

Apparitions of lost dreams...Moving past and beyond

Not looking front nor back

Eyes closed to anything that

Tries to draw my attention

My heart emptied of caring...I walk on past this phantasm

Holding on to only proven reality

Devoid of perplexity or scripted

Words which bring only confusion
