Look For The Why

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 19, 2012

I want to offer you something to think about today. On the surface it is a very simple idea. In many ways the simplicity is why I feel it works so well. If something is too complicated when it comes to human behavior, most of the time I do not put too much stock in it. Narrow it down and get to the core and there is a better chance it will be helpful to you.

Let me paint a scenario for you to think about. I offer you this as it is something most of us deal with on a regular basis. Especially when our children are small.

I offer you Johnny who is 6 and Billy who is 8.... (more)

Inside Your Heart

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 16, 2012

Take me to that hidden place in your heart

Deep within where sorrow lingers

The sun does not shine

Still in vastitude

Hope abides

Calling your name

Gently stroking your un-scared heart

Love keeping the embers burning

A pure flame gifted within....

In this clandestine abode

Where you retreat from

All worries, all troubles, all sadness

Let me lay bare myself

To open my soul to hold you

When the pain and weariness

Become too much

Let me transcend this and sit inside

This... (more)

Reflections

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 14, 2012

I have been reflecting lately on many of the beautiful survivors I have known and worked with over the years. When you travel deeply into another's soul, they become a part of one's own heart. This journey is an opening to understanding and love. In the process you both benefit, grow and are transformed.

This time of year is difficult for many people. The holidays are "supposed to" represent family, love, and joy. Having worked the crisis lines, I know all too well, that this is the busiest time of year. This year I again am volunteering on the crisis lines. They are swamped.... (more)

To Solve A Problem, First Identify It.

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 5, 2012

This is a conversation I recently had with a young couple I have been working with. Both of them are extreme reactors and unfortunately the reaction is usually anger. Needless to say this is not working for them and I was trying to make them refocus their thinking and get them to realize what might actually be going on.

They were simply reacting without even taking the time to think and process what they were reacting to. I made them promise if the situation arose, they would agree to go think for a half hour before they said or did anything. "Take a time out so to speak."... (more)

I Believe

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 1, 2012

I am in a place of such gratitude that I thought I wanted to share this . I know life can be difficult and there are times where we may want to just give up or give in...but please remember you have so much more strength than you may know...

The last couple of weeks I have had surgery on my eyes...my vision over the years has gotten worse and worse and I was told years ago that I may not be able to read at some point in time. I have never spoken about this as I prefer always to focus on the positive and seldom will mention any problems I have had in life. The reason my vision was... (more)

Into The Void...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Nov 20, 2012

I am somebody

I am here now

In this time and place

I am not sure if I want to stay here

Or perhaps wander on to a new

Adventure....

A longing deep within

That only leaving will let me find

Stepping outside of myself

Into the great wonderous unknown

To a place of dreams and possibilities

In searching

Do we indeed find our Soul...

The unknown does not

Frighten me

What frightens me is not

Stepping into that void

And never knowing

What may of been...

Let me be brave

Lost In Complaency

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Nov 17, 2012

Is your life a compromise?

Doing what others dictate

In the process losing self

Feeling pieces of your soul

Falling into the abyss ...

Erasing your dreams

Living a safe life

Leaving you hallow

Regulated by the ticking

Of the clock...

Where did your smile go?

Why did you let them steal this?

Will you ever reach beyond?

Reconnect with your beautiful

Essence of sacred truth...

Bemoaned silence still lives

Though hidden from those

Judging our every breath

Suffocated... (more)

Break Of Dawn

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Nov 13, 2012

The beauty of the break of dawn

Touches my heart today

Giving birth to a soulful peace

Thanking My God

The universe for this blessing...

My vision drawn to the splendor reflected

In heavenly purple and pink hazes

I embrace this day

All the earth, the sky

The wonders created and gifted to us ...

I softly whisper "I love you"

"Thank you"

As I listen the justification

Vibrates in my soul

"I love you too" ...

Sweet Child Of Mine...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Nov 12, 2012

Please do not think I don't care when I tell you I am letting go...by doing this I am offering you total respect. Does this seem confusing? Let me try to explain so you know my intention.

My sweet child, I will always stand with you and for you... letting you grow to be all that you can means I have to surrender trying to "fix" everything for you. Allowing you to make mistakes , so that you will learn from this who and what you value in life. Teaching through natural consequences; which I believe will make you stronger . You will face many obstacles in life, and as your Mother,... (more)

You Deserve Greatness...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Nov 9, 2012

Every person holds the power to do great things. Do you believe that? Yes it's true...no if-ands-or buts about it. Once you believe this, and I mean feel this deeply in your soul....you set yourself free to acheive all the meaningful things you want in your life.

If you are looking outside yourself for happiness or success....STOP!! Everything you need is right there inside you. Own it, know it, believe it in your core. Then step up and be YOURSELF. You deserve all your wishes and dreams to come true. Stand up and make it happen.

I have often told people, well, a few... (more)
