A word about Marga:
During the world wide Great Depression, Marga was born in Munich, Germany on December 3rd. The Munich Bavarian State Operetta recognized early in Marga’s childhood that she was a gifted dancer. In just one year Marga danced in more than 300 performances of Johann Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” (The Bat). That same year, Germany’s then Chancellor, Adolph Hitler, invaded Poland, drafted Marga’s father into the German Army over her father’s futile protestations, and attended several of Marga’s performances. Marga’s father died five months later in a Munich Army Hospital at the age of 39. He died never seeing his talented daughter’s performances. In January 1940 while dancing for Adolph Hitler Marga did not know then that in less then three years she would have an accident completely severing her Achilles tendon. Never again could she stand on her toes. An American air raid on Munich later destroyed the Theater. Marga married a disabled American WW II vet. Now a widow, Marga remains committed to supporting American Veterans causes. - courtesy of Craig B. Thank you for putting this together for me Mr. B.
