Contracts Awarded: 7
Total Amount: $7,936,620
Amazing! The ability to then drill down on the map to what company and project the contract was awarded to, the project status, and eventually a detailed project page was jaw dropping transparency. This level of transparency on projects is the goal of a PMO (project management organization) in a fortune 500 company. To have this in the first term after the most opaque administration in the history of the US, lead by Bush Jr. makes this accomplishment by Obama and his team legendary.
Then I look closer and see "text view of data". I click it. This is all the RAW DATA used to populate this site!
Knowledge is power. Sharing knowledge of how our tax dollars are spent on this level is truly giving power back to the people of the United States. Voters can now go look up exactly how taxes are spent and take that power to the polls.
Put in your zip code, search, get empowered! I'd love to read about how taxes are spent in your zip code in the comments below!
