To increase the appreciation of poetry in the U.S., National Poetry Month was introduced by the Academy of American Poets in 1996. In fact, former President Bill Clinton declared in a Presidential Proclamation that "we need more artists to imagine the best future for us and remind us what is good and constant in our past."

With this in mind, I encourage the great writers of Broo to bare their souls in poetic excellence. To begin with a bit of poetic inspiration, one of my favorite poems that reminds me of the unendless needs life requires of us is as follows:

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

by Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Poets, writers, those with a passion for words, take this time in April to share words in all their poetic justice!

"Mean" Mike, I was hoping all of the great poets, with so many varied ways of sharing their craft might take the opportunity to fill Broo's pages with their work!! I adore what surprises lurk in such great, creativity we know as poetry. :)

This is also a great time to wistfully lose yourself browsing poems of Broos' past! The archive of original work on Broo grows with each contribution!

Great point, Jack! Maybe it would be nice to look through the work and select favorites to compile a master list of The Best of Broo Poetry. :)
