I am now 0 for 4 on my playoff picks and here's why.

So, I should probably never be allowed to pick another NFL game outcome or I should be given a job immediately as an NFL talking head....either way I went 0 for 4 in my playoff picks this weekend. Let's examine why.

Seattle over the Saints. Now, I am far and away not the only person to pick the Saints. I think just about everyone in America, outside of Seahawks fans, picked the Saints to win. Not too many expected a 7 and 9 team to beat the defending Super Bowl champions. But beat them they did. The Saints were reduced to an even more one dimensional team when the running backs they did have were both injured in the game. Drew Brees was the Saints offense attempting 60 passes in the game. Any time a team is throwing 60 passes and has a defense that plays like its in a coma, they are not going to win....against anyone, even the Seahawks.

Jets over the Colts. Now this one is a bit tougher. I really thought Peyton Manning could pull this out and save me from a week of having to listen to Rex Ryan talk about how bad the Patriots are and how good the Jets are, but no. The Colts lose the game by 1 point on a game winning field goal by the Jets. The Colts had ample opportunities but made nothing of any of them ending up scoring only 15 points and the Jets scored just one more to win and that's all it takes. This is the game I thought could go either way but I really, really didn't want it to go this way at all.

Ravens over the Chiefs. I thought that the Chiefs running game and defense would be too much for the Ravens. I thought Joe Flacco would make a few of his patented mistakes and the Chiefs could capitalize and win. I was wrong. Really, really wrong. The Ravens beat the Chiefs down. Beat them with a stick and then beat them some more. The Chiefs could only score 7 points. After that, they were finished as the Ravens defense shut them down and they could have gone home at that point.

Packers over the Eagles. The Packers took the game in hand showing a lot of different looks on offense and not rushing on defense. The Eagles offense became confused. Then it became injured. First DeSean Jackson and then Michael Vick, again. The Eagles tried to fight back coming to within 5 points of the Packers, but time caught up with them and no timeouts going into the last 2 minutes is always a killer. Michael Vick threw an end zone interception to end the game. The Packers found a running back under the bus and had a balanced game all night. My worst nightmare for the Falcons come true in a Packers win.

So, I'm 0 for 4 so far in the playoffs. I'm really skittish about making any more picks at all. Maybe for this upcoming weekend I will pick who I WANT to win, not who I THINK will win. Maybe that will work out better. This weekend it's Falcons vs Packers, Patriots vs Jets, Steelers vs Ravens, and Seahawks vs Bears - I want the Falcons, Patriots, Ravens, and Seahawks to win....will I go 0 for 8?
