Several spots for the NFL playoffs have yet to be decided as I write this blog, but some spots are already secured. Several teams have already gotten their tickets and are in the dance leading up to the big show.
In the AFC, the Patriots are the top of the league and have locked up their division and home field advantage. Tom Brady and the Patriots at home in the playoffs is not something many other teams want to see, but see it they shall. The road to the Super Bowl goes through Foxboro once again. The Patriots were all but written off at the beginning of the season and then again after the trade of Moss, but they just keep finding a way to win. The Kansas City Chiefs have a ticket to the dance. With a 10 and 5 record, the Chiefs won their division and will have a chance to get to the big show. A very young team, they are also a very dangerous team. Other teams would be mistaken to take them too lightly. The Steelers and Ravens are both in, it's just not decided as I write this who will win the division and who will get the wild card. But either way, both teams get a ticket to dance. Both teams could end up 12 and 4 on the season but the Steelers would have the advantage by virtue of the in the division wins record.
In the NFC, the Falcons have already won their division and a win over the Panthers would also give them home field advantage. The Falcons are coming off a hard loss to the Saints at home ending their streak of wins at home, but they are still a formidable opponent at home in the Georgia Dome. Teams are not looking forward to the road to the Super Bowl going through Atlanta. The Eagles are in and have won their division. They look to rest their starters today particularly QB Vick as he has been banged around relentlessly the last couple of games. The Eagles do not get the bye so they will have to play next weekend. The Chicago Bears have a ticket to dance winning their division with a possible 12 and 4 record. The Bears could also have an impact on the NFL wild card as they face off against the Packers in the last game of the regular season. The Saints are in as well as a wild card team. They just have to get past the Bucs who are still in the hunt for a playoff spot themselves. A lot still to be decided as I write this in the NFC.
The regular season is winding down and some teams are preparing already for the playoffs by resting players. The playoffs start a whole new season, everyone starts fresh. Teams that are in get a ticket to dance, but it remains to be seen who gets to the big show at the end.
