How many ways can you count, count on or countdown?

New Year's Resolutions

Some people make new year's resolutions. I don't think I have met someone who has admitted to doing this. Me? I make a resolution of faith, but the traditional resolution to give up or limit chocolate, lose five pounds or read 25 books before the year or actually try to keep up with housework while both boys are in the home (9 & 12)...well, let's just say, it isn't going to happen, it wouldn't be prudent and I'm not gonna do it. I'm an adult now and I don't have to if I don't wanto to. So, Nah! Besides, I have other things I can count on to occupy my time, no matter how little it seems I have.

Counting On

In this last year, I think I have really learned the value of counting on others to help me through a bit of this and that and counting on hugs from my boys or the dryer to dry my son's favorite shirt he wants to wear to impress a girl he likes. I've counted on my grocery store to have milk. And it's been pretty reliable. Even through the snow storms that cause our area meteorologists to describe the intensity of a snow storm by two gallons of milk and a three loaves of bread warning. I also learned what other parents have learned - that my 12 year-old son can help me out of a computer tech problem just like any professional and that he's already counting down to the first day he will be behind the steering wheel of a vehicle. Which leads me to my next area of counting...

This isn't some interesting scientific or top vote getting list of top tens for 2010, but I figured that this year was a doosy for me and I might as well share my best rant with the best of 'em. You probably have some great ones of your own to add that make your personal top ten lists. It would be fun to share the wit. So, don't hesitate on my account. Share your cup 'o stuff in the comments section and dish out your top ten best and worst of 2010. To get the fun started, here's my list

Counting Down My Own Top Ten Things I Love and Hated About 2010

Top Ten Things I Loved

10. Stumbling into Broo and its members who helped me to submit my creative writing to see it published online

9. Becoming a 'Gleek' and getting soundtracks from the TV series, 'Glee'

8. Finding out my boys and I like Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face' in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

7. Discovering and becoming addicted to the CBS show, 'Criminal Minds' (also on A&E and Ion for other addicts)

6. Growing awareness for a little ballerina living with Neurofibromatosis (NF)

5. Having dinner with Helen Thomas and looking at life through her eyes

4. Visiting Arlington Cemetery after 27 years and putting the emotions into words

3. Earning a surprising $3,000 in 40 hours

2. Watching my both boys play football for the first time

1. Experiencing my youngest son enjoying his first white Christmas

Top Ten Things I Hated

10. Tiger Woods' personal life coverage

9. Watching CBS get rid of J.J. on Criminal Minds "due to finances" and then replacing her with a lame look-a-like

8. The "Capris" comeback (it's the worst case of 'high waters' that never should have made it to a runway)

7. Dealing with re-occuring migraines

6. Living where there is only winter and summer and sweating to death during summer 2010

5. Taking part in open house at my son's middle school (no organization, no A/C, no paperwork provided)

4. The continual rise of gas prices with unbelievable reasoning from the government

3. Finding out General Stanley McCrystal is my stepbrother and then watching him go through a crisis in front of the world

2. Putting off continuing to write my book because I just don't want to deal with the words being brought to life in my mind

1. The realization that our country is in a major pile of poop with no one who has a decent answer or a big enough shovel to get us out
