Put Your Strengths To Work

by Eddy E (writer), Northridge, March 03, 2007

There are many resources out there to achieve your personal best. Many of these books (or audiobooks) are found in the business section or the self-help section of a bookstore. The premise of many of these books is to help one identify his or her weaknesses and work on them.

Find out that makes you tick or your areas of failure and a particular book can help you turn that failure into a strength.

Unlike that premise, Marcus Buckingham has an innovative approach exhorting people to identify and develop their strengths rather than dwell on the weaknesses. Through his various books like, Now Discover Your Strengths, First Break All the Rules, The One Thing You Need to Know , Buckingham has paved the way for people to know how they are uniquely strong, and to put those strengths to work.

And that's the title and premise of his next book. Now that you know what your strengths are, how do you put them to work? Go Put Your Strengths to Work: 6 Powerful Steps to Achieve Outstanding Performance aims to answer that question. This book (and frankly all of his other resources) are a must have for anyone who is trying to achieve his or her personal best.

There is a time and place to work on our weaknesses. For example, we have to learn whether we should improve certain weaknesses or compensate for them. But it is just as important (and perhaps Buckingham would argue that it is more important) to develop our strengths--the things that give us passion and vision for life.
