Thanksgiving is almost upon us and that means a few things to most Americans. Family, turkey, and football. A set of 3 games are on tap for Thanksgiving Day viewing this year.
First up, the Patriots travel to the Lions to kick off turkey day football. The Lions have had quite the time of it this year with some questionable calls and their quarterback Stafford being injured for a big part of the season. They are a much better team than people give them credit, but they are not going to beat the Patriots. New England is getting things together and are starting to work on all sides of the ball. The game against the Colts showed that the Patriots, even with their young defense, can play and win against anyone. The Lions are just having too many issues to compete with the Brady and company. I look for this game to be very one sided in favor of the Pats. Maybe next year Lions fans.
Next up, Saints at the Cowboys. The Saints who started out the season quite shaky have come around and are hanging around on the Falcons heels every week. The Cowboys who won after ditching Wade Phillips are still not the team they should be. They still have Kitna as QB and there's still a lot of internal turmoil going on. The Saints are starting to click offensively and are looking to try and keep pace with the red hot Falcons and the continual wins of the Bucs. The Cowboys may be in "something to prove" mode yet though and they may give the Saints a run for their money in this game. I do think the Saints will win, but it will be closer than a lot of people think.
The last game of turkey day is over on the NFL network and is the Bengals at the Jets. The Bengals are having an abysmal season despite having 4 wide receiver threats to use at any given time. They just are not getting the job done. This week TO sounded off about Revis and cornerbacks like him. A lot of speculation has it that the Bengals are worse off with TO despite the fact he has the most receiving numbers on the team. I'm really not sure what is going on with this team. I have long thought that Palmer should concentrate his efforts on the younger receivers on the team, but he seems to be confused as to where to throw the ball most of the time. Maybe he just has TOO many choices. The Jets on the other hand are being hailed as one of the top teams in the NFL after their dramatic comeback win on Sunday. I am still not all in on the Jets bandwagon, but I do think they are getting the Bengals at a very down time and that the Jets will carve the Bengals up like most Americans will be carving up turkeys.
Thanksgiving - one of my favorite days of the year - combining three of my favorite things - family, turkey, and football. It doesn’t get any better than this…gobble gobblof
