On Beauty and The Transience of Life

by Lynda Lehmann (writer), Long Island, New York, October 25, 2010

The beauty of passing seasons brings to mind the transience and delicate nature of life's unfolding...

Autumn leaves ready to fall create a cascade of color, suspended and flapping in the wind like a curtain. Natural beauty is a transient state, peaking in its majesty for a short time before changing form and entering a new phase of life cycle that may, perhaps, be equally captivating.Because beauty is fleeting, like life itself, it becomes all the more precious and poignant. Life is both precious and poignant, and so we must be thankful for our short domain on Earth. To proceed without being mindful of the wonders in life and our individual blessings as well, is to be out of touch and perhaps even arrogant. I think of friends whose lives have been taken too early, and I know that I must rejoice and be grateful for the gift of every day.

Askcherlock and Melody, thanks for reading and commenting. I see my photo didn't appear, and my paragraphs/format were lost. I'll have to get used to posting here!

Lynda, in this case the words and feelings evoked carried the day. Yes, your pictures are wonderful and will add to the beauty of the piece but not the value for the reader.

I took the opportunity to visit your website and become a follower of your posts. I look forward to going back and paying more attention to your abstract art.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your feedback. I had thought that the photo I was trying to post was illustrative of my point, but if the words carry it, I guess that will suffice.

Nice to meet you and share our interests in art and writing.

Seize the day and enjoy!
