Daisy Talk

I love him. He loves me not.

I love him. He loves me not. I need him. He needs me not.

I love him. He loves me not.
I need him. He needs me not.

I await his arrival with anticipation.
He looks forward to wine with dinner and later...proposing.

I take his hand in mine and feel a tingling sensation.
He shakes my hand with eyes smiling upon my sister.

I talk to him at dinner.
He nods at my comments and asks my sister to a movie.

I watch as two shadows come to form one.
They have enjoyed the evening.

He touches her cheek and they kiss.
I watch her lips touch his, where mine should be.

My sister is getting married...I still love him.

I love him. He loves me not.
I need him. He needs me not.

@Melody and Gary - I appreciate your comments very much. I submitted a story that I wrote in my freshman year in college and realized that this was when I found my desire for creative writing. Knowing you well-read and talented each of your writing is, it's nice to have you both see things in my poem that even gives me pause to think that I had a good creative writing day in 1986. Again, very much thanks!
