LOST IN NYC

Lost In NYC

Lost in NYC can be bad, Losing a part of you can be worse

I Lost myself in the city

looked under every garbage bin

but my courage

confidence

and smile

seemed to have been misplaced

I asked the man at the counter

if he's seen them

but he just shook his head and shrugged

I searched in the eyes of a child

but she just cried

I even asked the birds

but they flew away

so I walked aimlessly

looking franticly

trying not to cry

hugging myself

trying not to be afraid

but it seems I lost myself

somewhere in the city today

I told myself it would be okay

just avoided eye contact after that

watched feet pass

sandals, sneakers and a few heels

all coming my way

I hid behind a pole

but wasn't hidden

so I pretended to shop in a few stores

but my eyes kept stinging

and my face a painted frown

so I continued to walk the busy streets

people bumping into me

I stopped looking at their feet

because I felt they were all after me

what has happened to me?

Sombre yet optimistic cause you kept walking and didn't stop. That's the message I get. But truly heartening.

Love & Hugs to you
