I think it is safe to say that a lot of people love Los Angeles. On the same note, I think it is also safe to say that although LA has a lot of fans, that each and every fan loves this sprawling city for various and often times very eclectic reasons.
Whether for the sexy South American population, the more than sufficient cultural outposts (MOCA, LACMA, Norton Simon, and so much more), the cinematic history that seems to have roots in almost every nook of the city, the weather, or even the celebrities - a lot of people love LA. Although I have multiple reasons for loving this energetic enigma, the primary reason I love LA is a reason that I am sure others share, and that I want to share with the others who do not.
Even though I can not get enough of the amazing ethnic food, and even more amazing ethnic women, my reason for loving LA is one that has nothing to do with the diversity, cultural establishments, or even with the highly touted “Hollywood Highlife;†all of which I very much enjoy. My love for LA starts in Santa Monica, and then works its way into the depths of the city. My true love for LA stems from the energy that Santa Monica beach provides. From the silky smooth cream-colored sand to the energy that amasses from the constant strain of runners, rollerbladers, and bikers – I love everything about this highly bustling yet at the same time extremely relaxing outpost.
I moved to LA this past fall, and have spent a good amount of time trying to figure out this amazing city. When I moved to LA, I had a pact that in my first year of living in the city that I would try not to return to the same place twice. Luckily, I have found a lot of places that have allowed me to break that pact; Santa Monica beach is one of those places. And not only is it a place I have returned to, but it is a locale that when I am not there, I yearn to be there.
When I am not at Santa Monica beach, I can not wait to get there – to climb the forty-five foot ropes, to work on my ring-swinging skills, to play chess at the Santa Monica chess park, to simply sit and watch as different people do different things.
Overall, this article is written with passion. I have a passion for Santa Monica beach. I love the energy, the calmness: the way it makes me want to do everything, anything, and even sometimes absolutely nothing; the way I can observe, compete against, and interact with new people; and the way I can enjoy sun at sea or in the sand.
I like LA for a lot of reasons. But, I love LA for one reason – Santa Monica beach. Please to all inhabitants of the city, whether you love LA or not, go to Santa Monica beach, it will make your day, your week, and will without a doubt make you smile.
