El Al Launches Direct Flights from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv

by Barry (writer), Los Angeles, July 21, 2006

Getting to Israel from Los Angeles will be a lot easier.
Israel's El Al Airlines will now be offering the only nonstop service between Los Angeles and Tel Aviv. The inaugural flight will take place on Sunday, July 23rd. The flights, which will take about 14 1/2 hours, will operate three times a week on Boeing 777 aircraft. The planes feature personal TV screens at every seat. At a press conference held at the Luxe Hotel in Bel Air, El Al's Chairman Izzy Borovich expressed excitement about his company's new venture. He says Los Angeles is an important gateway for El Al. "There is not just a large Jewish community in L.A., but also a large business community that does business with Israel". L.A. is the fourth U.S city to offer direct flights to Israel. The other three are Boston, Newark, and Miami. Borovich says he hopes to add Chicago soon.

That is some awesome news that you got here Barry! I am just waiting to see the prices of the tickets. Considering the distance between LA and Israel I am guessing it is going to be more than $1000 :(
