Sylvia's Style

Remembering Mom at the 1 year anniversary

Of course there are no words, expressions, prose that can reflect, what's in the heart, spirit, soul and mind.

I remember elementary school days, middle school auditorium dances, holiday meals, the infamous stuffing at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Mandatory watching of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Bar-B-Que in summer months, backyard birthday bashes, school conferences, being grounded, graduation, college days, Political conversations, CNN debates between not only those on the broadcast but my Mom chiming in her analysis at the Commentators.

Of course, there is much more I could say, but there are no words that can truly convey my heart, soul, spirit, mind and true feelings.

I find I'm yet trying to define it all as the 1 year anniversary of the passing of my Mom approaches. December 8, 2009.

I've often thought about writing an article, tribute, story, something that would allow me to speak openly about it.

I still find it extremely difficult. I did write a poem a few days after her passing so I share it here. I've revised the end a bit at the 1 year anniversary.

Always going beyond the call of duty

Giving her words of wisdom classic....Sylvia Style

She'd give you a piece of her mind

It was always, right on time

Done with a smile

All the while

Classic... Sylvia Style

She could organize any celebration

or event with a moment's notice

That's fact

Everything in tact

Classic... Sylvia Style

a Wife, a Mother, a Grandmother, an Aunt, a Cousin, a friend

Jewel of a lady

faithfully giving love to all she sees

At the end of her battle

God our Lord whispers, "Sylvia, you're free"

and sends his angels to bring her to heaven above

Classic...Sylvia style

Its 1 year now

through many tests and trials

we yet press on

to a new dawn

I'm remembering her laughter

rekindling conversations

holding dear precious moments

keeping afresh in the heart

The essence of Mom

Classic Sylvia

Always in style

That was beautiful Kim. It sounds like our moms would have got along great! I'm sure they are watching over us together :)
