A Question Of Etiquett: Internet Porn In Coffee Shops

An investigation into the consequences.

I sit down behind this guy in the coffee shop yesterday, and what do I glance over his shoulder?  Are you really being this blatant?  I had no choice but to watch.  Apparently he was on some kind of porn gathering mission, surfing from site to site at breakneck speed and downloading everything in sight.

He was quite indiscriminant.  Mother daughter sites, hardcore teens, golden showers, grandma’s gone wild.  This guy was into EVERYTHING.  I had to take a ‘screen shot’.

Phone hovering tentatively over his shoulder, I’d wait for something good to come up and snap a pic.  But he was just too fast.  By the time I snapped the pic it would be of something else or have a download window in it.  A few failed attempts later, I began to get worried about the artificial camera click noise my phone makes.  Looking through the settings to turn off the click, I asked myself a sobering question.  Who’s the bigger freak?  The guy who openly surfs harcore porn in the café, or the guy sneaking cellphone pics of him over his shoulder?  Don’t judge.

What coffee shop is this?

It looks like the one just south of Market on Church. Am I right?

Seriously man...you were snapping pics for the cause of "investigative journalism"...No fault in that.

Rock on with your bad self :)

What could this virtual voyeur possibly be getting from openly perusing pornography anyway?  Especially if he was skimming skin pics at speeds that were too quick to be caught in the act.  There is no way that he was saving picks for later usage, so considering he was probably pouching on a public wifi site, his motives could been that of virtual subderfuge or Mental masterbation maybe?  Whatever it was, it does make one wonder :)

Interesting article Seth :)

It's dirty work, but some journalist has to do it :)

And whatever the case, I bet he would get off on this article.  Gotta love SF.
