Behold The New Amerika

by D. E. Carson (writer), , November 04, 2008

With election looking like a wrap for Obama, get ready for a name change.

Watching Fox News shows a lot of votes going into the blue column. Obama currently holds 200 electoral votes and McCain holds a mere 90. If you ask ABC News, it's 200 to 124. Either way, it's looking like Amerika is about go the way of the dodo bird.

On the day the Constitutional congress concluded, Benjamin Franklin was asked, "What kind of government have you given us, Dr. Franklin?" His response was, "A republic, madam, if you can keep it."

Today, the republic of America has been given away. Should Democrats secure more seats in the House and Senate, it will be the first time since 1977 that liberals have enjoyed a "super majority" in Washington. And it will be the end of America as the nation of opportunity.

Good bye United States of America. Hello, United Socialist States of Amerika. A new design for a new flag has already been created to go along with the Obama presidency and the socialist programs that will bankrupt this nation.

It is true that Amerika gets the government it deserves. And with Amerika being a nation of lazy, thumb-sucking, crybabies who think the government is supposed to care for them from the cradle to the grave, welcome home.

As for those of us who believe that every able-bodied person should work for a living, earn what they have, reap the rewards of their efforts and keep their money to do with as they please, it was nice while it lasted. We can all meet at the corner Starbuck's Coffee Shop and Abortion Clinic and talk about the good ol' days until we all get escorted off to our government mandated retraining center where we will be brainwashed and indoctrinated to the liberal mindset.

If you've ever read Aldous Huxley's Brave New World you'll know what I mean when I tell you to take your three grammes of soma and have a nice day.

R.I.P.

I found the article very funny, actually, in a gallows humor kind of way (with apologies to the Broo's own Julian "Gallo").  I think the predictions of demise are a little exaggerated, but overall, a very in-the-moment article that I enjoyed.

Of course, El G's comment prompts a guffaw, as always.

DEC: Amerika's fortunes may be turning around already.  Yahoo ran a story quoting an Arab who said that Obama being elected will make America (sic) "less arrogant."

Amen to that, eh?  They're summarily executing journalists with chain saws and burning down Scandinavia because of a political cartoon, among other disgraces, and somehow, WE'RE arrogant?!?  When will we finally learn?

Fly that flag already, DE, and stitch in a line on one of the stripes that says: "Don't blame me; I voted for McCain."

To assume that an Obama administration is a move to socalism is strange; I would tend to say yes, a more regulated economy; not a planned-system like Cuba.

What's more telling about this outcome and the run-up to it was that you didn't hear any right wing celebrities (? do they exist?) or pundits loudly proclaiming, as if we cared, that they would leave the country if Obama was elected.  This is in direct contrast to 2000 and 2004 when political scientists like Alec Baldwin and Susan Sarandon made unkept promises to vacate the US should Bush win the election.

Now that Obama is back in, liberals can finally stop apologizing for being American, stop hanging their heads and feeling inferior to Europeans, and they can love their country again.  That's horrible to think, but it's true: they jumped ship because they disagreed with the administration, and hated the President with a passion.  Hey, Republicans hated Clinton and thought he behaved disgracefully, but nobody on the right apologized to anyone for being American, none of us were embarrassed to tell people we were American, or that we were different, we were "one of the good ones."

And that's the difference today: we won't disown our country today or in the next 4 or 8 years, we won't "stop" being American either.

JG, you wanted to say "might have had a swastika on the flag," right?  Maybe Morgana or Lumiere can post the story they had written just in case the unthinkable had happened last night...

To whomever wrote this in the review comments, thank you.  I truly appreciate a liberal who is not opposed to letting a conservative speak his mind without getting a proverbial fish-slapping.

Lumiere: glad to know I could help you with your personal weight loss program.

JG: I'm glad you pointed out the Democrat's hand in war.  I would have if you hadn't.  But since we're on the topic, let's also point out: Truman was the president who actually used the atomic bomb on Japan.  So Truman actually got us into TWO wars.  Even at the height of the Cold War, Reagan used diplomacy over weaponry.  Kennedy actually got us into Vietnam in the first place, remember in his inaugural speech, "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty."  (Damn, and he's my favorite Democrat president too!).  Of course, we can't forget that it WAS a Republican who got us out of Vietnam (Ford) but he did it just exactly the way the liberals back then wanted -- which was the same way liberals want us to get out of Iraq now -- cut, run, surrender and spend the next 30 years living in humiliation because Amerika can't win a war.

What a pansy-ass way to end a war!

JG: Finally, someone willing to point out the previously unspeakable: that Democrats can actually find the 'war' button.  No one came forward to pronounce Clinton a warmonger for the same reason that all the feminists gave him a pass on his philandering, because it would put them in the uncomfortable position of seeing someone on their own side for what they actually are, which is heresy to them.

JG: you win (what I'm not sure, probably just the recognition that you were right)!  Clinton was impeached by a Republican House because he committed perjury.  It had nothing to do do with having sex in the Oval Office -- as all the Democrats who could find a microphone at the time wanted us to believe.  Why the Senate couldn't convict him on that charge is anybody's guess.  Maybe he bought enough senators with promises of his wife's support when she was elected senator from New York I don't know.  I guess that since a sitting president was able to get away with perjury, if I ever get called into court I can commit perjury and don't have to worry about the consequences.

I'm reading a great book right now called The Truth About Hillary, and it details how even she looked the other way while her husband banged anything that moved, for the simple reason that she was closer to the power if she stayed with him.  She morphed from militant feminist to wronged woman at lightspeed, and almost everybody bought it.  She's a pip, that Hillary, but so far, she's yet to perjure herself, so she looks like a pillar of honesty next to her husband.  I'll end with a joke:

Q: How do you remember where Clinton's presidency falls chronologically?                      A: Simple... he was the President after bush.

Okay, so it's a very little joke...

Yes it does, and the book credits (discredits, maybe?) her church pastor for the changeover in her politics.  Apparently, the Methodist church at the time published what sounds like a fanzine of a radical leftist political nature called "motive" (no caps on purpose - how edgy, Methodists!).  The preacher earmarked a subscription for the young Hillary, and her road to ruin supposedly starts there.

She was in fact a Goldwater Girl, which I think is hilarious.  The best part of the book so far is how disgusted Pat Moynihan and his wife are by how Lady MacBeth-ambitious and insincere HRC is.  Yet, they not only give her their grudging endorsement, but they also let her announce the thing with a press conference at their country home in upstate NY.

An interesting theory is advanced in the book which I think is a very valid and interesting one: Hillary's practice of what the author calls "political lesbianism," in which she marries Bill only as a matter of convenience, while continuing to throw off the shackles of male dominance, and adopting this non-sexual lesbianism as more of a revolutionary pose.
