Oh The Hypocrisy!

by D. E. Carson (writer), , September 14, 2008

During any election cycle there is going to be hypocrisy, but where does it end?

It is no secret that CNN has joined the rank and file of ABC, CBS and NBC in the tank for liberals when it comes to political news.  But every once in a while, a gem of a story comes out and it just has to be addressed.  It doesn’t happen very often what with veteran anchor Wolf Blitzer almost as transparently liberal as Dan Rather, but it does happen.

Today on CNN’s Late Edition, Wolf Blitzer was speaking with Obama Campaign Adviser Linda Douglass and McCain Economic Adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer about the economic plans of both campaigns.  As usual these two women were engaged in a verbal catfight over who has the better plan.  They went back and forth with such accusations as, “that’s absolutely not true” and “that’s not the point”, but one thing stood out among all the accusations.

Blitzer brought up the point that Pfotenhauer is a former lobbyist who is one of seven lobbyists working on the McCain campaign.  The point was emphasized because Pfotenhauer’s photograph appeared in an Obama attack campaign complaining of the lobbyist influence on McCain.  Pfotenhauer pointed out that 1) there are lobbyists working for the Obama campaign as well and 2) unlike Obama, at least McCain has disclosed the list of his campaign advisers.  Douglass then interjected that Obama does not take money from political action committees (PACs) or lobbyists and she lamented that McCain has not pledged to do the same.

Here is where the conversation got interesting.  The Obama camp refuses to disclose the names of his campaign advisers like McCain has done.  He knows full well that he has lobbyists working on his campaign but he likes being able to attack McCain for having lobbyists.  He thinks it gives him ammunition to scare people into believing that with McCain, it will be politics as usual.  But if Obama has lobbyists working for him he has to keep it quiet, which he has done, so that people don’t wake up and realize that with Obama, it will be politics as usual.

In the same discussion, Douglass also mentions that she can’t understand why McCain hasn’t signed a pledge not to accept campaign contributions from PACs and lobbyists the way Obama does.  Pfotenhauer countered with, “I’m surprised that you would ask Senator McCain to sign a pledge when Senator Obama pledged that he would use public funds for his campaign then when it was in his best interests not to use public funds, he threw that pledge over the side of the boat.”

The fact of the matter is this.  There is going to be hypocrisy in every election cycle.  It’s just there.  It’s as certain as death and taxes.  Both sides are going to say something that the other side is going to pounce upon and point fingers and scream “hypocrite!”   It’s the double-standard issue that has been prevalent in American politics for years but has only become more pronounced since the 2006 mid-term elections.

California Senator Dianne Feinstein even participated in the hypocrisy on the same program this morning.  Senator Feinstein and Tennessee Republican Representative Marsha Blackburn were going back and forth over Sarah Palin.  Feinstein adamantly defended the vetting process to which Palin has been subjected for the last two weeks saying that she believes that every politician should go through the vetting process, “just as Geraldine Ferraro went through it.”  But one thing stood out as obvious as a Mack truck: Feinstein never once stated, alluded to, hinted at or even mentioned that Barack Obama should have to go through the vetting process.

Barack Obama has never been vetted by the liberal press.

Everyone knows John McCain and Joe Biden.  The vetting process for them has been going on for years.  At one time, it was revealed that Joe Biden is the smartest man in the world.  Just ask him, he’ll tell you.  Everyone knows McCain’s past as a Vietnam War POW.

But who is Barack Obama?  Why is it that the liberal press is scrutinizing Sarah Palin down to making up lies about her firing a librarian and reinstating her after being pressured to do so when in reality she rescinded firing less than 24 hours later but the liberal press has given Barack Obama a “get out of vetting free card”?  Why has Obama been allowed to run a campaign that operates covertly in so many ways?  Why, as Pfotenhauer point-blank asked Douglass this morning, hasn’t Obama released his list of advisers like McCain has done?  Why does Obama demand that his wife, Michelle, not be criticized for her “proud of my country” comment and her “America is a downright mean country in 2008” comment claiming that family is to be off limits, but he says nothing about the scrutiny of Palin’s 17-year-old pregnant daughter?  Why can’t anyone on the streets of America define what Obama means by “change”?

The answers to those questions all come back to the same conclusion.  Certainly Obama intends to invoke change in America and he is being covert about everything because he doesn’t want Americans to wake up and realize that his change will be to implement the largest socialist government the world has ever known.

Yes, there is hypocrisy from both sides in every election cycle but the deeper one looks into this particular cycle, the more apparent it becomes that Democrats are operating under a cover of darkness, shadow, mystery and covertness as they continue to pull the wool over the eyes of the people.  Americans are not mushrooms – they do not deserve to be kept in the dark and fed male bovine fecal material.

Barack Obama did actually stand up for Bristol Palin by saying the family should be off limits. He refused to even discuss that subject when reporters brought it up to him. And if he wanted to, he could use her as a prime example of a failed Republican Abstinence Only policy but he hasn't. Granted, he would be crucified if he did, but he still hasn't done it.

Morgana:  While you are correct that the vetting process is primarily for the vice-presidential candidate so the presidential candidate doesn't end  up with egg on his (or her) face, the people have a right to know what kind of person they are voting for president, don't you think?  I mean to say that we can take any shmoe off the street and make him president is a very dangerous thing and frankly, considering Obama's voting record in both the Illinois and US Senate he's not exactly the kind of person America needs in the White House.  Those of us who are old enough to remember Jimmy Carter know that Barack Obama will be Jimmy Carter's Second Term.  I would almost go so far as to say that Obama is so liberal he will make Carter look like Reagan.

The point I was trying to make is that people like Dianne "Frankenstein" Feinstein, Barbara "Boxhead" Boxer, "Scary Harry" Reid are so invested in completely seizing power from the Republicans that they don't care who is running so long as the person defeats John McCain.  I'm still not sold on McCain as the president anyway -- after all his most recent Spanish television ad was chock full of lies (but then so was Obama's).  But the fact of the matter is that liberals are so ill with "Bush Derangement Syndrome" that they don't care that their candidate couldn't lead an avalanche down a mountain.  Obama is in no way qualified to be president and at no time in the last 18 months did the liberal main-scream media even bother to really look into his background.  His association with William Ayres alone is enough to keep him from obtaining a security clearance through normal channels and yet, as president,  he is supposed to be allowed to be privy to information that if released to the general public would cause mass slaughter of American troops all over the world and could even lead to the destruction of this country.

There are things that the president knows that if you knew them would make your body turn inside out.  Frankly, I'm glad he has that responsibility and I don't.  The last thing I want is some associate of a known anti-American terrorist who engaged in activity designed to incite violent overthrow of the Government of the United States sitting in the Oval Office behind the Resolute desk.

I never said McCain was perfect nor did I ever say he wasn't properly researched.  I don't like McCain.  I didn't vote for McCain and probably won't vote for him in the general election.  Why?  Not because of what you have pointed out above.  I have my own reasons for not liking McCain and not trusting him.

That said, I challenge you to find me as many points about Obama.  The fact of the matter is, you can't.  No one can.  Most of Obama's votes in the Illinois State legislature were "present".  The same could be said of his few votes in the U.S. Senate.  But with all of that said plus his associations with a confessed domestic terrorist (William Ayres) and the likes of Jeremiah Wright and Michael Pfleger why aren't there more stories in the main scream media about Obama?  Why not have exposes on his opposition to the botched abortion bill in Illinois?  Where are the reporters and camera crews digging through public records about his shady real estate deals in Chicago with convicted felon Tony Resco?

Obama's minons are so desperate to dig up anything they can on Sarah Palin why don't they dig into Obama's past with the same gusto and fervor?

The answer is simple, the liberal, mainscream media is in the tank for Obama and they are so desperate to get him elected that they will do anything they can to get him elected -- including turning a blind eye to his past and giving him a pass on standing in a room full of elitest, liberal scumbags in San Francisco and calling the working class people of western Pennsylvania "bitter Americans clinging to their guns and religion with antipathy toward those who are not like them."

The liberal media have forsaken their need to be objective for the "win at all costs" mentality of the ultra-liberal left wing wacko maniac George Soros types.  People like Soros are far more dangerous than people realize.  They flat out hate America and everything for which it stands.  They want to create a nanny state that is not financed by the ultra rich like Soros, but will be funded by the hard working, taxpaying, blue-collar types as a permanent downward spiral that feeds on itself and never allows for anyone to actually get out of the hole but must rely on the government for everything.  It's a symbiotic relationship that will make the poor and middle class into slaves for the rich.  Instead of allowing innovation and free enterprise to work as it is supposed to do, people like Soros want the minions to work for him making him richer while these lazy liberal fools make less and less no matter how hard they work.  The liberal system keeps everyone oppressed except the truly ultra rich who can afford to buy their way out of the poor house.  Government entitlements keep people lazy and stupid.  Lazy and stupid people are easily influenced into keeping their oppressors in power.

The government of the United States will never be overthrown by force.  The government of the United States will be handed over to the ultra rich piece by entitlement piece by the very same lazy, worthless slugs who vote for liberals because the liberals promise to give them something for nothing.

With the rampant spending allowed by Bush and the current Republicans, the last 8 years have been Democrat-lite.  The truth of the matter is that by electing Obama, Americans will actually be extending the current Bush administration by another four years -- same big government tax and spend pile of feces, different name.

It's a funny thing about chicken shit.  The little white spot on top of chicken shit is chicken shit too.  McCain may not have a better idea, but an Obama administration will be the REAL Bush third term.
